I agree - I love the Shox and so many other of the Nike styles that people swear by, but they're so uncomfortable for me.

I wore Nike Shox for the first two years of nursing school. My feet were killing me by the end of 8 hours. However the Nike Free have not given me any problems so far. They really are very comfortable. Very lightweight and breathable.

Easy Spirit anti-gravity and the Skechers with the wedge sole, seems like the more between me and the floor, the better

Anyone have experience with the Alegrias?? Seems to be the lastest trend. I had Danskos for years as a teacher and 6 hours was about all they were good for, for me. I have a pair of Skecher somethings and they were great, breaking down a bit. I also have had good luck with Brooks walking shoes (orthopedist sent me there!)

I have a pair of Alegrias, and I like them enough that I plan on getting another pair! They have good arch support, but they are actually really well cushioned. That's the thing I can't stand about Danskos - while the support is good, they feel hard as a rock to me. The Alegrias are supportive and cushy at the same time...and they're super cute. I have a ton of work shoes, but the two pair I always end up alternating between are my Alegria Feliz and a pair of New Balance toners.

The online shop always has closeout styles at a good discount, if you want to try them but don't want to pay full price.

i started off with asics gel enduro which were super kind to my feet even after 12 hours. i've been curious about clogs but didn't want to spend a lot on danskos in case they weren't for me. i wound up buying a pair of clogs from Lands End after reading reviews that stated that they felt like danskos minus the hefty price tag. they are still on sale for $34.99 if anyone's interested (i had a 40% off coupon so only paid about $22 for them):

Women's Suede Clog Shoes from Lands' End

let me tell you, i LOVE them and am now a clog convert!!! these puppies are so supportive. my feet were a little sore after the first day because i wasn't used to such firm support, but now that i've broken them in, they feel amazing.

For clinicals I've been using Skechers Shape-Ups. They have a work-shoe line that come in all black or white. Since we needed all white shoes for our uniform I tried them out. Very padded and comfortable. I think they also force you to walk correctly.
