I am currently an EMT-intermediate. When i was 18 i enlisted into the navy and lots of things went wrong with my contract and i was given an Entry Level Separation....after that i joined the army reserve and started school. Everything was going fine in the Army but after 4 months the army reserve realized they didnt sent me to my AIT school. (this was MEPS fault and meps admitted it, for some reason my training was dropped)...so i again got an uncharacterized discharge from the Army reserves; i did not receive any punishment from either branch. This sounds like a sob story but it was just lots of things gone wrong! i had no problem with my emt license coming in and i currently work in a hospital in the ER. I have never been arrested or anything and i have a damn good credit score, everything is perfect on my record except the military incidents. I dont think this will be a problem getting my RN license, should it? thanks everyone.

What do your discharges (DD214) say? General, honorable??

There isnt one. ThEy Are admin separations. Just entry level separations. I had no problem gettingmy emt licenses

Nope, no problem at all. I had an entry level sepatration from the Navy when I was 18 due to a prior knee injury that gave me problems in basic. I was discharged b/c they did not want to take on the possiblity of having to deal with the injury in future. I went to LPN school when I got home and have never seen anything ever brought up about it. The entry level sepatration is neither honorable or dishonorable so it has no bearing.

When I received my entry level medical discharge :( I was told that after the medical records were destroyed in 7 years (why is it always 7 years??,) the military would have no record that I ever existed, and therefore, nobody else would ever be able to tell, either....

Check with your state's BON - I think things like this vary from state to state?

i have not received any criminal offenses, or even traffic tickets. I currently hold an EMT license but i did get an Entry level separation from the Navy that also carried through to the army reserves (due to a problem at MEPS)...i did not received any punishment or article 15 or anything, just given entry level separations. The Texas BON asks:.have you been subject of a court-martial; Article 15 violation; or received any form of military judgment/punishment/action?

Once again, i was not punished for anyting and was not given any discharge, just ELS. I am finished with my pre reqs and want to make sure this will be ok for me to get my license! Any info will help me out greatly!

I disagree, there was action taken by you having to exit as you did. Does everyone go out by entry level seperation? No they don't. When the federal background check is done everything and anything shows. I don't know if the BON in your area does the fed checks; where I am they don't but the employers do.

What's the big deal ... if you have nothing to hide why hide this?
