will this hold me back from getting my RN license?

Published

I am currently an EMT-intermediate. When i was 18 i enlisted into the navy and lots of things went wrong with my contract and i was given an Entry Level Separation....after that i joined the army reserve and started school. Everything was going fine in the Army but after 4 months the army reserve realized they didnt sent me to my AIT school. (this was MEPS fault and meps admitted it, for some reason my training was dropped)...so i again got an uncharacterized discharge from the Army reserves; i did not receive any punishment from either branch. This sounds like a sob story but it was just lots of things gone wrong! i had no problem with my emt license coming in and i currently work in a hospital in the ER. I have never been arrested or anything and i have a damn good credit score, everything is perfect on my record except the military incidents. I dont think this will be a problem getting my RN license, should it? thanks everyone.

Just call it what it is, an entry level separation for administrative reasons.

see info re: texas declaratory order better to file request than not file.

i am not asking if i do not need to report this to HIDE it. BUT it states above this that it is specifically CRIMINAL charges. It doe not say any separation, discharge, etc....CRIMINAL. There was no criminal action taken. i have already emailed the board and asked them but have not gotten a response from it. once again, i am NOT hiding anything, i have NO reason to, but as stated before, above the question it asks about CRIMINAL ACTION.

People, i am not trying to hide ANYTHING. I have already contacted the board and asked them but no reply. WHY i am asking is because it specifically states above this is if it is CRIMINAL CHARGES. It states FOR CRIMINAL CHARGES check that apply-i dont have any criminal charges! This is the only reason i am asking.

Once again, only your BON can advise you about this; we cannot. If need be, get an Attorney to communicate with your BON. You may have to contact them again to receive the answer.

And, your BON may or may not be able to answer this question until you come up for licensure.

We wish you well.

Not once on here have I seen the best answer, in my opinion: Go find yourself an administrative law attorney who specializes in healthcare law, and have him/her look at the case law precedents. It may cost you a couple thousand, but it will give you peace of mind to proceed...and should there be an inquiry, you have an established attorney-client relationship to answer the BON's inquiry. They can also help you with whatever statement you disclose to the BON regarding things.

NEVER NEVER NEVER go up in front of ANY Board without legal representation, even if you didn't do anything wrong. My attorney literally saved my career.

See the OTHER issues that also need to be disclosed:

NOTE: Orders of Non-Disclosure: Pursuant to Tex. Gov't Code 552.142(b), if you have criminal matters that are the subject of an order of non-disclosure, you are not required to reveal those criminal matters on the application. However, a criminal matter that is the subject of an order of non-disclosure may become a character and fitness issue. Pursuant to other sections of the Gov't Code Chapter 411, the Texas Board of Nursing is entitled to access criminal history record information that is the subject of an order of non-disclosure. If the Board discovers a criminal matter that is the subject of an order of non-disclosure, even if you properly did not reveal that matter, the Board may require you to provide information about any conduct that raises issues of character.
