What is the test they give you when you apply for an RN job?

I just applied for my first nursing job, and they said something about a 20 minute tests that was required.

Can anyone tell me anything about it?
    What is it?
How do I prepare for it? as I don't want to be locked out of a position or hospital due to a test.

The only test I had to take for the RN position I hold was a pharmacology exam. It was multiple choice for the most part with some dosage calculations thrown in.

No tests for me. Actually I'm not aware of any classmates that had to take any tests either (might be my area).

I took one test that evaluated me on math, critical thinking and my personality. Yes! Personality. Companies want to find out if you are the type of person that won't accept criticism, for instance. They want to know how would you react to certain situations and what your likes and dislikes are.

Some use a screening test that gauges if you are likely to be a good fit or not.

    Don't sweat it

I had to take multiple tests for my current job, including math/pharmacology, EKG, etc. Some hospitals in my state are giving a test to see where your weaknesses are, so they can address this during orientation. They are general scenario questions, like if a patient has a pulmonary embolus, etc. Do brush up on your math~ none of the tests I ever took were multiple choice.

I've had to take math tests for every job I've held but that's it.

Are things changing? I remember taking a dosage calculations test and multiple choice questions based on nursing info regarding patient care and safety.
