  1. I wish one day some nurses would stop passing judgement on patients that State " they are in pain". I don't understand how a nurse can feel "dirty" by giving pain medication as ordered. The legislature has pass the law years ago to treat patients, for their pain, how did this come about because a doctor was treating a terminal cancer patient and ordered tylenol because he did not want the patient to become ADDICTED to pain medicine! So lets stop passing judgement about whether a patient is in pain or not. Remember when you point one finger three are pointing back at you.! Blessings to all!
  2. Dear disillusioned RN--AMEN AMEN!!!! No truerer words were ever spoken! 😊👦
  3. They do have access to information about your school
  4. I currently work with an LPN who is s male and people just assume he is a doctor when he puts on his white coat, he never corrects them that's why he never wears a badge(this is a clinic type setting).I feel sorry for those who cannot accept their status in life " you don't have to remain an LPN"?but misleading people knowing that they call you Doctor is a lie makes me wonder what else they are capable of lying about when it comes to patient safety?
  5. An insurance company just fired all of their nurses that worked in the claims department, most of these nurses had worked at least 20 years. Their jobs are being outsourced to the Phillippines. This company still sells their productsl, heath insurance in the USA. Please, who can I/we nurses write to to complain about this, thank you😞
  6. If you can message me I will talk with you about a possible job, but it is in PEDs but you WILL be trained well. Take care, things are going to get better don't give up.
  7. You should have been directed to the web page for directions, Yes you will need to be fingerprinted, you will have to pay $60.00 for CA to send verification of your license, expect to wait a minimum of 3 months if you have everything in order. best wishes
  8. I would suggest giving it a little more time. Three weeks is not a very long time. Best wishes and keep your faith alive.
  9. It is amazing how relatives seem to show up when someone dies, to collect whatever they can, but they were not around when that person was living. Sad that money can 'bring' out the worst in people.
  10. Bless you, I am so happy for you!! God Bless.
  11. OP, I am so sorry to hear you are going through this. I once had an lady from India who was a "sitter" but she was also Muslim. Well, guess what, I go into the patient's room and she was on her prayer rug praying and continued and did not even stop when I came in, even though she was suppose to be watching the patient. If that patient had gotten out of bed and fell I wonder what she would have done and what would have been her excuse. I was not against her praying, but at least she could have told me at the beginning of the shift she would be preforming her prayer ritual, she was working 12 hours from 7am-7pm so she had to pray 5 times a day. I never reported her or said anything to her about her job duties. I know if some other nurses had encountered this they would have gotten the charge nurse to call her agency and terminate her.
  12. I am so thrill to see so many nurses who believe in prayer!! Some places don't want you to even mention the word 'pray(er)' how sad. when there are so many hurting people in this world. Prayer works!! Praying for you ESME!!!
  13. I too will be praying for ESME!!
  14. When I was in nursing school in the mid 90's our class had a white nurse who spoke to our class. This nurse went on to explain how she and other nurses were taking care of this sickle cell patient and how she and the other nurses would say things like" oh she wants her pain meds, oh how it must hurt". This patient who was 15 yrs old, later died. This nurse had tears in her eyes when she was telling us this story. She realize she was wrong and she decided she would never judge another patient about their level of pain. I too decided if the doctor ordered pain medication I would administer the med and not pass judgement. It so easy to pass judgement. Sure there are some who are pain seekers but we just cannot judge. Sure I have had patients who wanted the same "cocktail", I admister as the doctor ordered. My suggestion if you hate giving pain medication to patients who you feel does not "deserve"the medication, it is best to switch to a department where pain medications are not administered. God Bless
