    Sorry I meant to reply...
    1. How many places have you applied so far? About ten
    2. How many new grad postings vs. regular postings? About 6-7 new grad postings and the rest were regular postings
    3. How many have you heard from one way or the other? I've heard from probably 5
    4. Any job offers yet? 2 so far. The new grad application/hiring process takes soooo long for all of them but it's ok because I was able to get into a very great residency program.

Finished RN in Dec '12 (in Direct-entry program), licensed end of Jan '13, employed per diem in Feb '13, full-time May '13.

    1. Applied to 50+ jobs
    2. Very few new grad posting in my neck of the woods (Boston), so almost all regular postings
    3. 4
    4. 2. Took a per diem substitute school nursing job 1 month after being licensed, used that experience to apply for and get a full-time school nurse job (I love community nursing, wasn't looking for a med-surg job even though I did apply for several because I was told I should).

I've been out of school for a long time, but my cousin just graduated earlier this month. I helped her look for jobs, so I can answer some of these questions on her behalf, lol.

    1. How many places have you applied so far?
She applied for eight jobs. Six hospital, one home health, and one nursing home.

    2. How many new grad postings vs. regular postings?
A mix of both, but mostly new grad positions.

    3. How many have you heard from one way or the other?
    8 interviews.

    4. Any job offers yet?
    8 offers.

I also met a new grad who was recently hired on to the unit where I work. She said she applied for three positions and was offered jobs at all three. I know the position she was hired for on my unit was not a new grad position.

I graduated this May, and applied for two jobs, out of state (my husband is in the military and I am moving to where he is stationed). Both new grad positions, one was a critical care residency, one was a new grad opening on a critical care floor. Interviewed for both, and both offered me positions!

I couldn't decide, I ended up accepting the job I did because they were much friendlier, and seemed much more receptive to new grads. Both hospitals have decent reputations, and I didn't really have much to base my decision on, the jobs seemed pretty equal. I hope I made the right decision, either way I am lucky, and very excited to finally start working as a nurse!

10 was apparently the magic number for me - I've been keeping a Word document with where I applied and when just so I'd know, and though I applied for 18, the 10th job I applied for is the one that wanted me after all. And then, right after I finally landed that job, two more places called me for interviews and I turned them down. o.0 Once the floodgates open they finally open, that's all I have to say!

I applied for about 10 positions, to which I got a response from maybe 6. I was offered a position on my dream unit and accepted, obviously. Im in Indiana, there are really no hiring troubles here, I have my BSN and graduated with a class of 85, to which many are already finding jobs not even a month post-graduation. It must really depend on where you live.
