Hey fellow soon to be new grads and recent grads! Congrats to us for getting so far. :)

I'm curious about the stats here related to new grad job hunts.

1. How many places have you applied so far?

2. How many new grad postings vs. regular postings?

3. How many have you heard from one way or the other?

4. Any job offers yet?

For me...

1. 15 hospitals and 18 jobs

2. 13 new grad, 5 regular postings

3. Five - three outright rejections, one interview and subsequent rejection, and one upcoming interview

4. None yet!

1. Three hospitals.

2. Out of the three, two were new-grad programs and one was a job on the floor that I did my practicum before graduating with my ADN.

3. I never heard back from one of the new-grad programs. I interviewed at the hospital where I did my practicum but didn't get the job since there was only one opening. Then I got into the other new-grad program. Yay!

4. So I got a job. I was very lucky.

1. 150 job applications, I kept track of them on an excel sheet so that I could follow up

2. 10 new grad and the rest were regular postings

3. Heard back from 32 all were outright rejections, still haven't heard from the rest.

4. Yes, I got a job in a hospital in their new grad residency.

I technically didn't apply for 3 jobs. One job was through a friend's aunt and I got an interview for a home health agency. I was offered the job but didn't take it. Another was a very small hospital, had an interview and pretty sure I was going to be offered the job, I rejected the offer. The third was for a position that I did not apply to but had applied to different positions within the department. I guess they passed my resume to them and they called me asking if I was interested, Of course I was. Interview the next day, was offered the job the day after and said yes!

1) I stopped counting around 500 hospitals, 3,500 postings.... 7 months in.... Been job hunting 16 months. I keep hearing about hiring freezes, demand for experience ectect. No love for new nurses :/

I'm a recent new grad with a BSN. I applied to three hospitals I never heard anything back from. They were all residency programs.

I applied to 5 hospital new grad nurse positions. I received interviews at all and actually received job offers at 4. Offers were in ICU, CV, SICU, and oncology.

When I was looking for a job, I applied to probably close to 200 job posting and probably 80% were new grad posting. I had 4 interviews and 1 job offer, which happened to be on my dream unit and which is where I work now.

It's also important to note that I am in California which is very hard to get a new grad job.

1- probably 20 hospitals, over 300 apps

2- 5 new grad the rest regular

3- four interviews- three jobs, one interview didn't work and 296 rejections

4- three offers. Quit one job (malfunctioning equipment, no policy and procedures, no standing orders), quit second job when third job offer came. Accepted and now working dream job.

Hi I'm a new RN, the job market is very tough. I have been applying for job for about 5 months, so many I lost count. Probably over 300. I've applied mostly to new grad postings, maybe about 85% the remaining were regular postings in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, rehab centers, ect. I have had so far 5 interviews, 3 @ nursing homes, one for a new grad position and one RN residency. I've heard back from one nursing home for a second interview and a rejection from the new grad posting which was a rejection :( I should be hearing back from the rn residency hopefully next week....currently praying for this position. So in conclusion so far no job offers... yet

December 12 grad, Feb 13 license holder, March 13 working RN

1. 6

2. All new grad -5 of which were residencies

3. Never heard back from three, one immediate rejection, two interviews(didn't go to second because it was a week from the start date of the offer I accepted )

4. Currently two months into my position and loving it :)

When I was a new LPN grad, just passed my boards, I applied to about 2 jobs. I learned something from the license grantor at the ARSBN. Since she and I became very close due to the constant calls about license, then became about study's, then became good mornings on a daily basis with texts.....she told me that when you go fill out an application, put on there "New LPN/RN graduate.....benefits of being brand new is that I am up to date with knowledge and I am able to be molded and trained to fit the career duties that I am applying for and to benefit the patients/clients in the care they need and deserve". I put that on my résumé, I was called by 5 nursing homes, home health, hospice, wound center, and 2 Doctor's offices within a 2 day grace period! Each one was in competition with each other since I used that against them!

1. 3 Hospitals in my area

2. 2 New Grad positions and the rest were regular postings (multiple postings in each hospital)

3. Heard from all 3 hospitals, 5 interviews

4. 2 Job offers and possibly a 3rd by next week

1. One hospital - my capstone unit

2. New Grad Nurse Residency

3. I got called to schedule an interview less than a week later

4. They called me 30 minutes after my interview to offer me a job and I accepted- it's my dream job in Crisis ED ?
