Would wearing a sexy nursing outfit to a party disrespect the profession?

Nurses Professionalism

Published

Ok,just want some opinions.

I am Rn,I've been a nurse for 9 years.

But I just want to attend a lingerie party in April.

Do you think it would be sort of disrepecting my profession if I I wore a sexy nurses outfit?

In the back of my mind it might be,but I'm unsure.

Also, could I be reported to the board if someone I know just happens to see me?

Thanks in advance.

I find it offensive and disrespectful. And the people that are ignorant to our jobs will have the wrong image of us reinforced in their minds. Bad choice.

I'm not sure the board would do anything about it. But if pictures ever show up or if rumors go around, it could harm your career and reputation.

Ok, really? If you want, during your spare time, to wear a sexy nurse outfit who cares? This does not in any way offend me as a nurse, and I question why it would bother anyone. That being said, you sound unsure if you are comfortable doing it. If this is a party with co-workers or people who are likely to be part of your patient population then maybe it's not the best idea (in that it's coming a little close to the workplace). If, however, this is a private party with your friends and you want to be a sexy nurse then have at it sister! As to formal reprimand I would think that freedom of speech/expression would cover you there, and would hope your regulating body would have better things to do with their time.

Hard to tell without pictures. Be happy to look you,um...I mean them over. :nailbiting:

I don't in any way feel it would disrespect the profession. My only concern would be pics showing up on Facebook and some people you wouldn't want seeing it. I myself knew that as soon as I graduated I was going to buy one, which I did. However, I only wear it in the bedroom. But that's just because I'm self conscious.

I don't think it's a big deal.. Have fun and enjoy yourself.. You just need to know most likely pictures of you will show up on someone's facebook page and/or elsewhere. It wouldn't matter if you worse a sexy nurse outfit, teacher outfit, etc.

Not at all! It's fun ! One Halloween I was a patient and my ex husband was a "murse". One in particular, Gaylord focker! We love that movie. And he looks a little like Ben stiller, so it was funny. Hope none of the male nurses are insulted.....

All in good fun!

I dressed up as a "naughty nurse" for an adult Halloween party one year.

Ha ha. I think you should go naked except for a nursing cap on your head!

(LOL, just kidding - you know I like to freak out the :lttang:types on this board)

Good lord. It's not like she's prostituting. She's wearing a costume to a party, for goodness sake.

And then nurses wonder why we don't get respect as nurses. This is why people think we spend our time chasing doctors and that we are are flaky blondes and pillow fluffers.
