Please help your fellow Nurses in Orlando they are desperate. Orlando Health has spit in the face of Nursing. Please help them by signing a petition to stop this huge pay cut at change.org http://www.change.org/petitions/orlando-health-stop-nightshift-differential-cuts-to-nurses

"Orlando Health announced Monday, August 5 that they will be cutting the night and weekend shift differential to thousands of employees, across 8 area hospitals, to go in effect September 8. These cuts are more than 50% of the current rate and will result to each an individual loss upwards of $600/month, $7000-$15,000/year. A majority of the employees affected are Nurses, who are already notoriously underpaid and overworked. Corporate members are denying any request for negotiations, and gave less than 1-month notice for employees to acclimate to this substantial financial blow. The Orlando health corporation decided they want to decrease pay significantly, with no decrease in employee workload."

PLEASE! Your help is desperately needed.

That's insane, but is happening more and more. I would discuss protesting, going to the media, Etc. Good luck!

I'd put in my notice for day shift ASAP and work the bare minimum of weekends required.....all the nurses that work nights and any weekend worker just dont show up for two weeks...... Work PRN jobs until that hospital system breaks that's a better result. They can either pay dedicated employees or pay travelers/agency...

I wonder what pay cuts upper management took. I'd be looking for a new job ASAP.

Wow this is horrible! I feel for all of the nurses in Florida. Glad I left bedside nursing. ((((Hugs))) to those affected.

Learning to live on $15,000 less a year takes longer than one month.

You can't take $ 600 a month from anybody and expect them to stay financially afloat.

Another example of nurses being on the bottom of the food chain.

My thoughts are with the FL nurses.

I fear the loss of shift differential is the face of the future.

We've lost on call pay. Call back pay. Pay to work through lunch.

Just when I thought they'd cut everything, I forgot about shift differential.

Orlando Sentinel:

Orlando Health workers concerned by cutbacks in hours and pay

This week, the eight-hospital health system notified night-shift workers that their "differential" pay would be trimmed by several dollars an hour. Some of those rates will be cut by more than half — from nearly $10 extra an hour to less than $5, according to letters nurses received from the hospital system.

The across-the-board cuts, which take effect Sept. 8, amount to a salary reduction of as much as 20 percent for workers, the letters show. Meanwhile, the hospital has raised its cafeteria prices, reduced the tuition-reimbursement benefit and cut hours.....

The RN shift diff was $8.75 in 2012. The weekend I believe was $4.00. The sad thing is in Orlando its either Florida hospital or Orlando Health. I did not like Orlando because of that.

That happened at my previous employer on a smaller scale. It will happen more and more. I think I better return to school before they cut tuition assistance out.

Employee morale has got to be very low. Doing the same work or more work for less money. Most of work night shift for the premium pay.
