Took NCLEX today with 75 questions! What does that mean? I think I flunked.

Nursing Students NCLEX

I just took the NCLEX today in CA and I was in there for about

1 3/4 hours and it shut off at 75 questions. I got a few pick all that apple, a few calculations, some mass casualty, but very few Pharm questions. I studied my butt off since Christmas for this test and did Kaplan. Doing the Kaplan Question Trainer questions at my own computer really simulated how the NCLEX works (font was the same too!). Anyway, Kapln helps a lot, so take it if you can (some hospitals where I live will now pay for Kaplan for you and Kaplan gives you a money back guarantee if you fail the test). I did Lippincott and Saunders questions and they helped. I did ATI in my RN program and it told me both times that I have a 98-99% chance of passing. I scored above 65% on all of the Kaplan practice tests and passed the Readiness exam at the Kaplan center when I took it a few weeks ago. But, when I was in there, it kinda hit me that THIS IS IT, THIS IS THE DAY YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR! But, it was still a shock to be actually sitting for boards today.

I also had lots of trouble sleeping last night, which was sucky, since I got a nice, quiet hotel room so I could sleep in and rest. Haa! That didn't happen, I was so nervous and kept waking up with my stomach in knots (even after taking 2 Tylenol PM's to sleep easy). Anyway, I walked out of there smiling and happy it was over, but now I'm really doubting myself. I looked up the answers to the questions I remembered. My friends that took it in 75 questions all passed, but I think I'll be in the small percentage that failed at 75. Is anyone else in the same boat?

I passed with 75 questions. I received my license on the 13th. Thanks for all the support.

Starshinely & Mandrews,

:balloons: Congratulations!

You both deserve it!

Would you mind if you could share some pointers?

Thanks :)

The NCLEX is designed to make you think you failed......I'd bet you passed with flying colors!! I know how scary it is when that computer shuts off at 75, but that usually means it's determined that you have met the minimum requirements to be a safe beginning practitioner. Don't worry so much; you more than likely did just great!!

YEAH! Why is it designed to make you think you failed?

oh my goodness am I ever in the same boat. It shut off in 75 questions, i thought it was so difficult I got a ton of select all that apply, it only took me an hour and a half to do , i feel like i maybe went to fast, and i also took 2 excedrin pms last night and couldnt sleep AT ALL. I constantly thought i was going to throw up during the test, I'm so anxious and nervous and i already have a job offer and i'm just so afraid i didnt pass, it went by so fast and I dont fee like any of the questions were easy at all. i am freaking out so badely.

Hey guys just wanted to let you know I took the NCLEX exam yesterday and I am freaking out as well. I only received 75 questions and it shut off...I was so nervous and shaking! I had quite a few of SATA's and tons of meds I have never heard of. I tried as hard as I could to narrow it down to hopefully the right answer. i didn't get any med calculations though and math is my strong point! Has that ever happened to anyone else? Also, I received a ton of "what client would you assess first" and who would you discharge first?"...!!! Are these considered higher level questions?? So in about 12 hours i can find!!! Freaking out and really nervous!!! HELPPPPP!!!:no::no::no:

If you finished after 75 questions that is a good sign. The more questions you get wrong the more questions you get. So if it shut you down after 75 questions you're good.

Guess What....i Passed!!!!!!!

Not necessarily. Plenty of people have failed at 75.

I had 75 questions. with a lot of prayers and alot of work put into studying it really paid off. I took it the first time. Before the exam I listened to my favorite music. "yeha noha - wishes of happiness and prosperity" (by sacred spirit). Before I touched the mousepad I said a small prayer. It's hard to alleviate anxiety but anxiety helps you focus. Just try to relax and try not to hear your heart beat. I though I was lost after the 75 questions but I found out today I passed! To God be the glory!
