I just have to know NOW! Really?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I'm talking to you, the new grad who just took the NCLEX and is now "freaking out" because you can't get an immediate, definitive answer as to whether you passed. This is not a video game where you find out right away whether you got more gold coins or died. This is not even the ICU, where you dial up the pressors and the septic patient's BP goes up right away or it doesn't.

You, and every other NCLEX-taker, should forget the "PV trick" or any other grasp-at-straws method of gaming the official system. By now we expect that you, our new colleague, will be mature enough to wait to get your results from the only definitive source, the state board of nursing.

So it might take an extra day or two, or maybe until Monday. Oh, wow. Did you freak out because you didn't get your Christmas presents on December 22 right after you sat in Santa's lap at the mall? :)

You think you'll always get the answer you want immediately, all the time, every time, for the rest of your life? Newsflash: Not gonna happen. If this is the first time you had to wait, like, gee, 72 hours for something, then consider it practice for the many times this will occur in the rest of your life. If it isn't the first time, then, well, it isn't.

This too shall pass. Patience is a virtue. In a year-- heck, in a month or a week-- it won't matter one bit whether you found out the same day, in 12 hours, or on four days. Yes, I totally get how important getting licensed is to the rest of your life, to all your dreams for your future, to what you're going to say to your friends and family. You think every RN doesn't know that? Of course we do. We all did this before you, remember? However. Deep breath.

Try to act in a mature fashion, like important things have happened to you before and you handled them fine, and don't go around looking (and posting) so middle-school-drama-distraught. You know what? It will be what it will be. Try to hold onto that thought. It's out of your hands now, you did your best, and now you are waiting for the answer like the adult you must be if you have finished a professional course of study.

And good luck. We need you out here.

:flwrhrts:

This is the nclex forum though just saying...

And what do you do, after doing the PVT, you get your official failing results? There have been at least two recent threads by posters who recieved the "good pop-up," yet they still failed.

I agree with GrnTea. Either wait for the results or pay the premium for the quick results.

1. I don't believe any posters who come in here and claim to have gotten the good pop up and then they still failed. Either they had no clue what they were doing, or they were just trolling this message board.

2. Why do you care if we find a certain level of solace in the PVT? What difference does it make to you?

Of course it's obnoxious, obsessive, and they should probably all just calm down. But lucky for us they conveniently made a whole separate section for NCLEX discussion, (where it won't get in the way of other issues) where students can freak out to each other...and tell each other to calm down.

Yes thank you! I feel like a lot of people just come here to vent and post their frustrations. Granted, this is a "venting" post but it was definitely needed. I don't know all the steps involved with processing nclex results, but I'm sure it's a great deal. I think the biggest issue is figuring out if test-takers are cheating, which is why they updated their cell phone policy in California, requiring people to put it in sealed envelopes throughout the whole test. Even tests in high school and college took a while to get graded, so idk why people aren't used to waiting yet.[/quote']

Actually the cell phone policy is not something California did. The NCLEX is administered nationally and their rules are nationwide. This is something I discussed in a different post recently. The cell phone rule is the same for everyone that takes the NCLEX.

Well I'm sorry but I'm grateful I was able to do the PVT a few hours after taking my test to help put my mind at ease that day!!

And I agree, that is why there is a separate Nclex forum for new graduate to vent, get support and ask questions they may have.. Lets please let them do so.

Lets remember how you felt when you took the Nclex :-)

I don't get it....if you don't want to read about it then don't. Noone is forcing you to do so, there are plenty of other forums on here to read. Plus going on here and getting some reassurance that the anxiety you are feeling is ok and everyone goes through it helps some people myself included, that's why this site was created and if you don't like it then don't come on it.

I knew this would get a lot of responses tisk tisk grntea!

That's your opinion. Neither you nor I have any idea whether these posters are either trolling or didn't have a clue. I mentioned this because some posters, in my opinion, are placing way too much faith in something that might not be 100% accurate.

2. Why do you care if we find a certain level of solace in the PVT? What difference does it make to you?

For the most part, I don't care and it doesn't matter to me. Other than, as I mentioned above, I'm not convinced that the PVT is that reliable.

Having said that, I have never understood why the results aren't provided immediately.

NCLEX NURSING DISCUSSION: it is a place where new graduate nurses share their own experiences. those who passed and failed. they share their sentiments in this section of allnurses.com. it is not "IMMATURE" or "DRAMA" to post about how they feel after the exam.

People deal with this failure differently, and one way of dealing this is to post in this FREE FORUM. admin has NO RULE with regards on what to post.

"And sure enough, even waiting will end...if you can just wait long enough."

I'm just not sure why if people are bothered by these posts about nclex and the anxiety it comes with, they come into the nclex discussion forum?!?
