male nursing student uniforms

Hi guys, Hope everyone is well. I'm a male also and finishing up my pre-reqs now only 2 more semester to go. What are the uniforms like for males in school? I think a lot of nursing schools require different dress codes but for us guys what do I have to look forward to? The white nurse cap; that's out!! The white stockings; that's out!!!

A dress, white slip, cap, a student pinafore, support hose and a little cape. And don't forget to make sure that the dress comes to at least an inch below the bottom of your knee.

    Didn't you read "Cherry Ames"???????

Just kidding, check with your school for their requirements. Usually uniform pants, top and shoes.

Watch a few re-runs of M*A*S*H, and try and take some notes on Klinger's Nightengale outfits - that should get you close enough! Totally Kidding! :roll

I know in our program, the we females have blue cargo-type pants, with polo-type shirts, lab coats, and white approved nursing shoes. The men are required to wear the same pants, with real polo shirts (very nice! ), but unfortunately, the white nursing shoes are required. All depends on your school's/hospital requirements.

    Good luck!

The males at my school wear white pants (Dickie's brand which they all complain about) and a light blue & white pinstripe oxford shirt---white shoes (usually sneakers).

We were required to wear white, all white....top, pants, underwear, shoes, socks....nothing like standing out in a crowd. I hated it, I'm a big guy, and white made me look like the Stay-Puft Marshmellow man from Ghostbusters.

All the nursing students around here wear scrubs, male and female. The color varies by school, so they can tell "who" we are with a quick glance. Shoe requirements--closed toe, closed heel, solid white (but my small colored stitching was OK). When we go in the night before to get patient assignments, street clothes/no jeans/no sneakers with lab coat. Always a school patch on the shoulder, whether scrubs or lab coat.

The guys at my school wear navy dress slacks, a white shirt and tie, and a white uniform top with school patch over that. They can also wear a white lab coat with school patch. They can wear white tennis shoes if they want. The girls can wear a knee-length navy skirt instead of dress pants, but then we have to wear panty hose (yuck!). Overall, not so bad considering the alternatives (all white).

Thank goodness that all we have to wear is white scrubs. I would rather be shot dead than have to keep a tie out of the way. I would smother to death in all of those clothes. There are days when I sweat clean through a scrub top.
