Would YOU pay $38,000 for RN school?

by BigB

There is a private college that offers the LVN to RN programs that I have had my eye on. It would take about 8 months to get my RN after the few remaining pre-requisites are finished. Would you pay $38 - 40,000 to have your RN? I am wondering if going the faster more convinent private route will be better than waiting years to get into one of the jr colleges here. Thoughts?

I would pay that if it were RN from scratch not LPN to RN.....most places don't care where you get the RN from as long as it's NLN accredited

It would depend on whether I had that kind of money. And for that amount, I really think you should be getting a BSN.

Not sure. What is the pass rate for NCLEX-RN? And, did the school have a good feel? I can't say that I wouldn't if my dream were really to be an RN. I'd just be sure that they have all of the support resources that you need to succeed. Good luck!

That is pretty expensive...but the program is only for 8 months which is good. If you have the money and no other student loans, go for it.

They just started this program... so no graduates yet..but a full class of LVN's are enrolled.

I really don't have the $$$ for the program, still have my loan for my Bachelors degree to pay off.

In California, you'll earn the back the $38,000 in 6 months of working as an RN. This is a good option, if all of your other options seem unfeasable or have been exhausted.

Yes, if it meant I could be out working and making twice the amount of money as an LPN. I do agree with the reply that for that amount you might consider an LPN to BSN though(if that is an option). I hate the idea of pre-req's as they can take forever. In my case I need a second income to help my husbands. I live in AZ and when I first considered going back to school I looked at an R.N program that is aound $26K for 18 months. The only reason I changed my mind was because I felt the intensity of an RN program may be to much for me. I have opted for an LPN program that may only cost me $5K. Then I may go back for my RN or BSN over time. Do you mind telling us the name of the school you are looking at??

I am going out on a limb here because I am not from the U.S., so yes, if there was a wait of many years, I would seriously consider it because waiting for years for a less expensive college program may mean years of non-RN earnings. Tough decision. Good luck to you.
