how long does it take for LPN to finish course?

The length of an LPN course is dependent upon which type of school you decide to attend. Schooling could be as short as 12 months, or as long as 24 months.

1. You can complete a 12-month course at a private vocational school. This option tends to be more expensive.

2. You can complete an 18-24 month course at a community college or adult school. This option tends to be cheaper.

My LVN course was 3 semesters at a community college. It basically took 18 months.

Have even seen 9 month course offered in the past. Don't think this option avail anywhere now. Best option is the community college as far as cost; some allow you to complete the program without doing certain courses required to get the degree, along with the LPN license.

Mine at a CC was 12 months and it was cheap. It didn't include the pre-reqs that we had to have done ahead of time so I'd say that would add another couple of semesters.

My course at a private techinal school will run from March 13, 2007 until June 13, 2008, 15 months in length. We do get all Federal and State holidays off. We also get a few days in May like a mini springbreak type thing and I think a week off in July.

Its a full time day program that runs M-F 8-2:30. The evening course at the same school runs for 22 months. I believe theirs is M-TH.

There were no pre-reqs needed in order to enter the school..one of the main reasons I went this route. I've spent countless $$ and time doing pre-reqs previously only to have them too old when it came time to apply to the CC nursing program!! GRRRR!! (thankfully its only Science courses that have a time limit on them..my College English Comp class that I took is good forever..ok maybe not forever but until I can finish my LPN training and get into RN school)

my program was 15 months and was less than 3000 dollars but that was 10 years ago.

I'm going right now. The program lasts one year. The hours for the first several blocks are 1 pm to 8:30 PM - Monday through Thursday, with Fridays off until summer block. Clinicals are when we can get them. We have about 5 tests every week, covering from one to three chapters each. It's pretty grueling so far. Study, study and study some more, then go sit for lectures.

I have no life if I want to make good grades, which I do. Plenty of my classmates say they do not study, and they are failing.

But after twelve months, I'll have my diploma and will be able to take the Nclex.

Actually, Wayne, I do copy and paste some of my responses. It saves these tired, swollen fingers from having to retype out these lengthy responses over and over again. :D :chuckle
