Nurses Stress 101

Published

listening to music is a major stress reliever for me. what are some songs that when you hear them you just think "this is my life at work"? Mine is Don't Wanna Fight by Alabama Shakes, especially when I'm dealing with an IV pump that keeps alarming for no reason after you've tried everything to fix it..."I don't wanna fight no more" :dead:

"We care a lot about you people yeah you bet we care a lot,

YEAH!

Well, its a dirty job but someone's gotta do it!

Whooo-uh-uh-oh!"

Generally the ones that pop up in my head are "Welcome to the jungle" by Guns n Roses and "The Game" by Motörhead! Otherwise I'm usually just slap happy at the time and I think of pretty random music :cheeky:

Lately, it's been:

'Relax, Take it Easy' by Mika and I know this is awful but that new song by Ariana Grande, 'I'm So Into You' :inlove: No, it has nothing to do with a pt. I have a deep burning limerence for a co-worker that I need to resolve with myself. Rico Suave is 18 yrs my senior and 18x hotter than any man I've ever met, hands down. I dread when he chooses me to do count or if he's the nearest one around for a witness because the fantasy of attacking him in the med room with all sorts of :p  :p Just will not leave me alone! I try to stay in my little corner so I can focus and he thinks I'm being standoffish BUT THIS IS WORK. I don't mean to sound immature. These thoughts and feelings are so so so inappropriate and incredibly naughty! :shy: Maybe if I just try to imagine him having a nasty foot fungus it will help. Now I just need to find a song to help out with that one.

Since I now work from home and am parked in front of a computer all day Queen's "I Want to Ride My Bicycle" seems apropos.

A few years ago, after one of many really chaotic days, I got into my car and "bay day" by Daniel Powter was playing. After 16 hours of hell it seemed to really fit. A few months later, after finally quitting that place, Frozen's "Let it Go" was on when I returned to my car after turning in my notice. I left on good terms, but I made it clear why I was leaving. The only reason I can think that I remembered these was because it was a turning point in my life that triggered me to finally go back and finish my degree to get a position that better fit me. Can't really think of a song for my current job yet.
