Hey everyone. I'm applying for a critical care slot for FY 2018 and was wondering if there is anyone else going through the application process?

Got a call saying I was selected for ER but that they didn't know a COT date or base assignment yet. Has anyone else had this? This is also a new recruiter to me, he replaced my old one recently. My last recruiter said there was no ER bonus but this one said there is a bonus if you do 4 years.
I am in the same boat as you are. I have been selected for ER, but I have not received an assignment or a date for COT. I have not heard anything about a bonus. Last I was told, only OR is receiving bonuses, but things might have changed.

Hi! I just began the process of applying for the Air Force Nurse Corps. I am currently in the Army Nurse Corps on the reserve side and was under the impression that I will need to go through MEPS again since it has been 2 years since my last visit to MEPS. My recruiter told me that there are new guidelines and that I will simply need to have a DA 3349 Form completed stating that I am "worldwide qualified" in place of going through MEPS. I asked him who would complete this form and he really didn't know. He said I was the first applicant to have this option. After looking at the form, I realized it is the Physical Profile form. I have never had any condition requiring a profile and I'm not sure this form will help me avoid MEPS. Does this sound a little fishy to anyone else? Has anyone else been given this option, and if so who do we have fill it out. Thanks

what are nursing specialties that doesn't get to deployed that much? Does OR nurse get deployed often?

Wounded troops typically require surgery, so yes - they would need OR nurses.

Hello.
My package has been submitted for the board committee that convenes next week. I hope to hear good news before Thanksgiving.

My package also went up for the Nov board. My recruiter checked in with me today and said the board is still ongoing. My guess is we won't hear back before Thanksgiving.

I think the best advice is to expect after the holiday and be pleasantly surprised if word comes sooner. Best of luck to you guys. :)
Yeah according to the blog from last November's board, selections were displayed in December.

Why would you be interested in the military if deployments are a concern? It is a realistic expectation that any nurse in the Air Force will be deployed 25% of the time, depending on world events.
OR, ER, and ICU deploy most. I think NICU might be your best bet to avoid deployments, but I don't think anyone is really safe. You're generally on a 6 months on and 18 months off schedule. You should avoid the military if deployments are a bad thing to you.

Buffness and Chicky, Did you apply as fully qualified or HPSP? I submitted my package for HPSP and this delay from the 21st is killing me!
DBrando, What HPSP are you applying for? I also applied for the HPSP for the October board for Certified Nurse Midwife. This wait is brutal! Good luck to you!!
