What do you wear under scrubs?

I'm mostly talking about t-shirts, but if you have underwear recommendations I'm listening LOL I'm scrub-clueless...

Anyway, I'm someone who's ALWAYS hot. I wear a 3x (and shopping for plus-size scrubs is meh), and I'm pretty much always sweating to some degree. I live for A/C in the summer.

That being said, I'm taking a phlebotomy course this summer prior to starting LPN clinicals this fall. I don't know what kind of facility I will be working in, although I do find most hospitals a bit chilly.

How should I layer?

I am another person who is always too hot, and the LTC facility where I work is always quite warm also. I used to wear only a tank top under my scrubs (just so none of my residents could get an accidental peak down my top), but then we had an emergency with a resident and I needed to wash blood off my scrub - resulting in finishing out my shift in a wet top because a tank top is extemely outside the dress code...so now I wear tshirts that wick the sweat away from your skin (like Underarmour). As you're figuring out what you want to do remember that the facilitues where you will be will seem to get much warmer once you start running around working.

My college does not allow long sleeve shirts under our scrub tops. They made us buy warm up jackets. My top is white, you can see my bra through the shirt, so I think I will at least wear a white tee shirt under it or a white A shirt underneath.

Both my job and nursing program allows shirts underneath. At work I wear long and short sleeve compression shirts, a warm up or hospital logo hoody (its freezing on midnights) but at school I try to wear a tank top underneath

I think it depends on the temperature and the look of the scrub.

You can always just wear the scrub with no undershirt and, if you get cold, wear a scrub coat or a jacket (depending on dress code). The nurses where I used to work at got away with hoodies and zip-up cotton jackets.

Also try on your scrubs first. Some have a huge 'V', which in that case an undershirt is a must. One of our cardiologists wore scrubs all the time and his scrubs had a huge 'V'. To cut to the chase, there was some unnecessary hair coming out of unnecessary places...

I get really hot, too wearing a shirt. But to wear nothing under the scrub top just feels somehow..... sleazy to me, chest hair hanging out and all, lol. So I always wear sleeveless shirts under my scrub top.

I actually wish that the whole "tunic" top with the high collar thingie was back in style. You know, like the old school orderlies used to wear. It's more masculine. The whoever plunging v-neck scrub top is vaguely feminine in my eyes.

I go without a tank top and undershirt in the summer, but in winter I get chilly, so I layer with long sleeves. Maybe you could wear a scrub jacket if it's chilly and take that off?

I wear at least a tank or tee under my scrubs, regardless of the weather, and I'm inclined to be more on the hot side. I layer with a sweater, or a long sleeve top in the fall-early spring.

I would suggest to use a jacket if needed in A/C...you might be fine with your shirt under your scrubs, then ditch the scrub top when you go out in the heat-after "quittin'" time. :)

I wore a tank top a few times but found myself to be positively roasting, so I just go with bra/undies

and I like the microfiber panties from Cacique (Lane Bryant) - very smooth looking and comfortable and they don't ride up or slide down...(I'm also quite plus sized)

I have to wear a tank top, seems they don't make long scrub shirts for tall people like me so I need to have the tank to make up for that.

Look for moisture-wicking tanks, t-shirts, shorts, and even underwear like the athletes wear.

Im plus sized too. Most of my time so far has been in nursing homes which are kept warmer, so I end up sweating just walking down the hall. I sweat like crazy during clinical, usually it's not a problem for me. I make sure to wear cotton undies, they breathe so I dont feel quite as hot. I also wear a very supportive bra; it takes a lot to keep my chest in place but it's so worth it lol.
