What are you doing during the break?

I have nearly a month off of school and after a crazy semester, I'm trying to figure out what to do with myself! So far I've got:

- work (whenever I can get hours)

- study 20-30 NCLEX review questions a day

- make a spreadsheet of local externships

- make a spreadsheet of recruiters for local hospitals (I have no idea where to find this information!) and any events they may have coming up

- read one whole non nursing book cover to cover

- volunteer

Anyone else have a long break? What do you have planned? I'm spinning my wheels here!

Running

Enjoying time with my family

Job searching (I graduate in May)

Getting prepped for the NCLEX

Getting through some organization projects I can't do while in school

About to start getting through the ATI leadership and community health books, so that they're read before school starts (they're pretty short). I know I'll have other texts, so if I can have those read, I can easily skim them when the time comes for them to be assigned.

I'm studying for the psb, I think ? I readMaster the nursing school & allied health exam, biology & chemistry for dummies, math, vocabulary, and spatial testing websites. Still not sure what to expect. My best guess is that I will have unique questions on material I should have already learned 30 years ago.

Oh, and reviewing material for mother/baby, since I'll be precepting there this semester. :)

Studying for the NCLEX!! Getting ready for the spring semester to start January 6th

Specializes in psych/dementia.

Pre-reading books for spring semester. Winter class start next week for me anyway. 2.5 weeks is my break from school. I've also read some non-nursing books for fun and some TV shows I'm behind in.

Specializes in Forensic Psych.

Working when I should be relaxing! I'm on my 5th shift this week...zzzzzz

Specializes in Operating Room.

I don't go back until the last week of January, so I'll be brushing up on some Anatomy, studying for dosage, making drug flash cards, and flipping through my Med-Surg book to get a feel for what's coming.

Specializes in Med/Surg, Oncology, Epic CT.

I have 3 weeks off. For the first week, I worked 40 hours at my job (usually, I only work every other weekend), this week, I DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! It was glorious!

After this weekend though, I already received reading assignments and syllabuses from some of my classes, so I am going to get a head start on that.

Specializes in Medical Surgical.

I read The Casual Vacancy by JK Rowling and plan to finish a painting. I also have jury duty. From reading all your posts though it sounds like I need to get an NCLEX book and study! lol any suggestions?

I don't know what to do with myself. I'm going into my last semester in January and I am ready to start working! This winter break I have already read a good book "The Defining Decade by Dr. Meg Jay" which I believe is a must read for any 20something. There was a lot of holiday visits with family and friends. Other then that, I'm trying to relax...I honestly believe I don't know how to relax anymore.

I'm doing a lot of the same things others have posted. I've been working as much as possible. I'm a cna in LTC. I've been reading some for next semester but think I will start doing notes too. Volunteering is a good idea. I have a 13 year old and have been spending time with her, cleaning the house, watching netflix. I'd like to pick up a good book to read. I'm off until 1/21/2014. I work on Christmas stockings and sell them so I'll probably start one of those soon especially if I don't get as many hours at work as I'd like. :) I graduate in May.

Forgot to mention I'm watching Sex in the City TV collection series. Story of my life. I'm focusing on me and no guys at the moment. My GPA is coming first.
