Hi everyone - I hope you don't mind me jumping in here.
I've decided to join Weight Watchers online with my daughter. Her pediatrician has recommended it, because we have done the dietician route with her, food journal, etc., but it's not working. She's 13, and after a lot of soul-searching and researching programs, like OA and a few others, she has decided on this. I decided to join with her. I'm a Type 1 diabetic on an insulin pump, and most of you know how difficult it is to lose, but it's doubly bad when you're on insulin, since its an antagonist to weight loss. I only have about 20 to lose, which I'd like to do before I have to put my bulging bottom into scrubs in September. :chuckle My daughter has quite a bit more to lose. We've had all the blood work done on her to make sure there is no endocrine problem for her weight gain, and there isn't. She's a very active girl, no couch potato here - snowboards every day, basketball, softball, bike riding, horses, etc., but she just cannot lose weight, and in fact keeps gaining.
So I just thought I'd introduce myself for those I haven't met yet on the boards. I've been here a few months, and just love the people here. They have been so supportive in my quest for nursing school, and any problem relating to that that seems to pop up (and boy, do they ever! :chuckle )
We will both be doing the online version, since we live in the boonies of NH, and the only nighttime meetings are about 45 min. from here, and I'm in school at night. We'll give it a go for the spring and summer and see how she does - me also, but it's mainly just so she'll have a "buddy" and someone to help her count the points and stuff initially.
Any advice/tips for the online program, or WW in general, would be greatly appreciated. When I get a moment, I'm going to go through this post and look at past messages. :)
I weighed in on monday and i lost 1.8 lbs for my first week since coming back. I sure hope i keep seeing progress. 150/148/125.
Welcome wannabeanRN. I'm also doing WW online too. Just don't have time for meetings either. Don't forget to keep us posted on your progress. Also are you using WW message boards for support too? I've visited their message boards and it seems there is good people there to provide support too. They could possibly help in any questions about doing this online. Because this is my second week doing WW online I sure don't have much advise on how to get the most of the online version. I'm still learning too.
Everyone have a healthy week. :)
