Reminder check to see if a topic is already being discussed.
when I do a search on PDAs I get a message saying sorry no matches to search. I noticed that ya'll put the PDA thread on a sticky. Maybe if there was a way to fix the search for PDAs we won't have a million threads on this one subject. When I use a search on Palm Pilots or Pocket PCs then I get the threads though but of course it took me awhile to figure out what those darn things were called. LOL. I hope the problem w/ the search can be fixed to link to PDA threads I feel that could help w/ the problem possibly. :)

Drug Testing
Fortunatly or unfortunatly for some people, it cuts down on the competition for a job. I hadn't heard about testing for nursing school before but that makes sense. I wonder if you pay for the test or do they, the school that is.

Where are the Nurse Job Ads??
Just a thought too is I have noticed down here in so. Cali the hopitals advertise joblines and you call or go online to find out whats opened up. I haven't really noticed any specific job ads either. Maybe thats where the jobs are listed. hope this helps some.

Anyone go to SDSU?
Anyone go to San Diego State University's nursing program or has gone to SDSU's nursing program? I'm thinking about applying to their School of Nursing program. If you have any info about what you think of their program I would appreciate your help. How competitive it is to get in? I know they do it on a point system so how low is too low on the average accepted application? Is the dropout rate extremly high? Are the nursing courses so hard it is almost undoable? I noticed they have a high NCLEX pass rate but do they get rid of most of their students to keep up those scores? I plan on going to the campus to check them out during the summer or fall so I would like to have a good idea the right kind of questions to ask in order to get important info from them. I have searched their websites and got some info from them but you know I feel they are trying to sell me their school so of course they don't give you the dirt. Any help ya'll could give me is much appreciated. thanks :)

Male L&D nurses
My opinion about male OB/GYN drs. changed. When I first started getting exams they were always w/ male drs. so I always excepted the slightly rough and a little ackward treatment as well as not taking my complaints of pain or discomfort of symptoms I have been experiencing seriously. Till a couple of yrs. I happened to see a female dr mind you I had seen male drs for 10yrs so I knew nothing different. But when I had the female dr things were sooooo different. She was gentler, less intimidating, MUCH quicker at the exam. When I think back I wonder what those men drs were looking for geez. And the female dr took my complaints seriously and ran some tests to see what was happening. It was something simple but after all these yrs I had convinced myself that I was dieing because the male drs weren't listening to me. For male nurses I wouldn't have a problem because I feel nurses in general listen to the patients more than the drs do anyway.

I Just Graduated--I won't be going back!
I can relate to you Monist. I'm a prenursing student, only half-way done, and I am already feeling the beginnings of student burn-out. I can only imagine how burned out you are. You deserve the much needed break and paint, recenter yourself before you lose yourself. I have a feeling I'm going to be feeling and saying the samething you did. However I will take everyone elses advise and not say "never" so I don't jinx myself.LOL

my college is scaring me
You know Rhee I feel the same way too about my fellow students. Believe it or not in A&P most were saying we aren't going to be required to know this in nursing. My mouth dropped open. I could not believe what I was hearing. I expect by the time I get into the nursing program that those people will have changed their mind or will not make it far in the nursing program. It is sad because they are nice people but they didn't take the prereqs seriously. For the other classes that are just general ed classes like sociology or even english I look at those classes as a way to broaden my horizons. Maybe to help me understand other people more or to get me to have intrests outside of nursing. Because once out of nursing school I'm going to need other intrests to think about to get my mind off of nursing.

dog shampoo for LICE!
yes I have heard of using dog shampoo for lice. my neighbor used it and it was effective quickly before the infestation was out of hand. And I have also dewormed my son before w/ our dogs deworming meds. Actually it was an accident. My son was taking amoxicillin and the dog was taking a liquid form of dewormer. He was a puppy then. Well my son likes amox. and when I was filling the dog bowl I laid the dewormer on the table and when I turned to get the dewormer my then 2 yr old had the syring in his mouth and the med was gone. I freaked and called the vet and he laughed and said dont worry my son will be OK and he will also get rid of any worms if he had any. Oh and as an after thought my son happens to be one of those kids that likes to take meds that don't belong to him. We have had bouts w/ charcoal a few times in the ER. Fortunately we didn't have to do charcoal that time. Well alls well that ends well I guess. :chuckle

Trimspa?
I've tried trimspa. My opinion is it did not work. it seemed to curb appetite for a few days and make me feel full then after that it just didn't help any more. the only good thing i can say is it did not affect me or make me sick like ephedrine does. The best thing to do is save your money. that ain't the magic pill either. now that i've become $35 dollars lighter i seem to be able to think much more clearly and realized that those diet pills aren't going to work for me. so i have officially quit looking to the bottle. by the way i'm just trying to lose that last 20 lbs. that no amount of exercising will help. it gets so frustrating sometimes thats why i thought the answer was in a magic pill too. i hope this saves you some money.
