In my cohort, a student offerred money to switch clinical sites. This is not ethical. Should I report it to our program director? I don't want to be identified though. Any ideas on how to do this anonymously? Thoughts in general? Has this occurred in your program?

Tattling= to get someone in trouble, you can solve the issue yourself, not important, no danger or harm

Reporting= to get someone out of trouble, you need assistance to solve the issue, important, there's danger or harm, bullying

I use to do these lessons with my elementary students, but I guess all ages need a reminder.

I don't find this to be unethical, so I personally wouldn't report it. Now the dude snapping pics of the test? Uhhhh yeah. That's no bueno

I guess I don't understand how wanting to switch clinical sites, and offering money for it, would be unethical?

I think you need to put your head down and just get through school. Pick your battles, this isn't one of them

What's unethical about it? Could you clarify your thoughts on that?

Besides, we never had the option to swap. We were assigned to a clinical site, and that was that.

My thought when I first read this was a person was assigned a certain clinical site and there was no option to swap but the person would pay someone to secretly switch with him/her.

That would be unethical. But . . . . a savvy instructor would see that you weren't where you were supposed to be. So, I'm not quite clear on this issue . . .

Let's not condemn the OP for not replying for the last day or so - she/he could be very busy and not online.

I've done that myself - started a thread and read it for a day and then have gotten busy and not come back for days and days. I'd cut the OP some slack about that.

Lol, she needs to have all the seats at the staple center

DUMB. Seriously. What a waste of time. **** if take the money. Pay for a book or new scrub top. A massage even!

But hopefully that's not the case! Someone would for sure find out!

Hello there! I am sorry to hear there are so many negatives occurring in your school culture right now. Unfortunately, you will see a lot of negative things occur no matter where you go.

I too, have seen things at my school that have rubbed my morales the wrong way, unfortunately, there was some I could not do much about and some I could.

My advice to you, you have to discern what is truly within your power to report (plus, does it go against the school rules?) and what is just unethical in your opinion.

I believe the student that offered other students money to switch clinical sites is sad thing, but if a student is willing to step up and take the offer and the school administration (including the clinical instructor) supports it as well, then there is really nothing to be done about it.

As for the cheating by the other student, if you saw it firsthand, then I would definitely mention something. However, if you heard it down the grapevine, I would leave it be. Sooner or later, that student will get caught or they just won't make it.

All and all, I would worry more about yourself and your studies than getting caught up in the drama of anything else. Unless it directly affects you or you have witnessed it, just focus on the grand goal of graduating!

Best of luck to you, my friend.

Why is that a sad thing? It's been said 100 times already in this post that you will see this when you start working. Someone will pay you to swap shifts, take their shift, take their call etc. I don't understand why the OP thinks this is unethical and the OP hasn't been back to share his/her thoughts on the matter. There is nothing with this and there is nothing wrong with someone accepting the offer.
