CSULA Fall 2016 Nursing (BSN)

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

I realize it may be early, but I wanted to start a thread for the CSULA Fall 2016 nursing program hopefuls. I'm sure we will all have a lot of questions, especially because of the upcoming semester conversion. I have plenty of questions about application deadlines, volunteer hours, TEAS, etc. It will be nice to have a community where we can ask each other questions and offer advice. Eventually we can share stats, and we may even end up in the same cohort!

So.... My first question: does anybody know how the semester conversion is going to effect the application deadlines? :)

So far, it's going great for me! Been getting myself worried and panicking everyday with the thought that one year from now, it's going to be our turn getting accepted and denied.

I'm still confused about the volunteer hours though: does it have to be clinical extender program or just a regular patient related care?

I worry all the time too! I hope we make it! What school are you attending now? As far as the volunteer hours, I called CSULA and I spoke to someone in the office. I was told that the hours need to be completed in a clinical setting and be patient-related. So even if you're just handing patients their lunch menus, you're good! ?

Yeah, I started volunteering and I was only able to carry one lunch tray at a time, now I can carry TWO AT A TIME! Wow, I'm learning so much with my volunteer hours!!!!

Haha, I'm doing my GE and prereqs at CSULA! Are you from CSULA too?

Well, we're going to be the first batch of nursing students that will experience this change, so nobody knows yet. But, the conversion doesn't begin until Fall 2016, and we will receive our acceptance/rejection letters by May 2016. It will all be the same and normal until then.

Hi! Can you guys inform me about what change CSULA made? I have no idea...I was planning on applying for the Spring 2016 admission cycle but I could'nt find any information so I stumbled upon this thread :]

Nobody knows yet because our advisors haven't told us what the changes will be. But, in general, we're just switching from thr quarter system to semester system. That's all we know right now.

ohhh okay... how many application cycles does CSULA have? Is it just one per year? Or do they accept for both fall and spring?

I'm supposed to start my volunteering at Kaiser within the next few weeks. Supposedly I will be in a nursing unit after 12 weeks of customer service type of volunteering, so hopefully I will learn something! I'm doing my pre-reqs at Citrus College ? I have a question, do you know how many chemistry units we need? @premillenium
