CSULA Fall 2016 Nursing (BSN)

Updated:   Published

I realize it may be early, but I wanted to start a thread for the CSULA Fall 2016 nursing program hopefuls. I'm sure we will all have a lot of questions, especially because of the upcoming semester conversion. I have plenty of questions about application deadlines, volunteer hours, TEAS, etc. It will be nice to have a community where we can ask each other questions and offer advice. Eventually we can share stats, and we may even end up in the same cohort!

According to assist.org it says we need to take one of these classes, will English 103 from East Los Angeles college satisfy this critical thinking part, or do i still need to take one of these classes? At the top of the page it says : ENGL 102 Composition II (4) ENGLISH 103 Composition and (3)

I am having the same problem. I called CSULA nursing department and spoke to Monica Ling. She told me that IF the English 103 class fulfills the critical thinking requirement at your college, then it can be used to fulfill both the ENGL 102 requirement and the critical thinking requirement. So at my school, the equivalent of their ENGL 102 is ENG 104, and it falls under the critical thinking category on the CSUGE transfer pattern. I attempted to attach our CSUGE, so you can see what I'm talking about. Under the A.3 category, is ENG 104. So for our school, it is considered critical thinking. It is the equivalent of CSULA ENGL 102 AND it is considered to be a critical thinking class. So I won't have to take a philosophy class (thank goodness). I got that info directly from CSULA. If you want to double check, call Monica Ling. She knows her stuff ? Also, take a look at the Cal State Transfer Pattern for your school and see if your ENGLISH 103 falls under the critical thinking category. I hope that helps. ?

I see. I am taking microbiology right now, will be taking physiology and English 102 in the fall. I hope I can finish up all the pre-reqs by the end of fall semester. I thought they need English, Math and Science? I am not quite sure tho.

I don't think you have to be finished with the pre-reqs by fall. That will be great if you are, though! I was pretty sure CSULA only requires the TEAS scores for math and English. I will have to double check! ? I'm so anxious to start applying. I don't know when to do the TEAS, though ? December is too late?

Hi! I go to Citrus too (just finished Kondo's Anatomy and Phys lol woooohoo) but I talked to a counselor about the Engl 104 and 103 thing because I took 103 a year ago but for CSULA, it's 104 in particular because it's more argumentative writing with critical thinking. I also saw that you're taking Anatomy with english for summer? Oh my goodness I took it for winter and I really suggest you wait out the 104 for fall because knowing Kondo, he's really really hard core. You want to keep that A. I'll be sticking around to make sure I remember my anatomy/phys so if you have any questions about his classes, feel free to ask me ?

Thanks! I will keep that in mind. I'm sure I will have questions about his classes. We should keep in touch as we go through the application process. You're applying for CSULA for Fall 2016 too, right? It's funny that you mentioned saving Eng 104 for fall because I dropped it last week! Lol. I decided to take it in the fall because I figured I needed to focus on anatomy. :D

I'll private message you. Yes! I'm applying to LB, SB, LA, SD, Bakersfield and probably Channel Islands. ADN programs too of course. I have to keep my options open.

So, I want to apply to CSULA and CSUSB for Fall 2016. CSULA notifies the applicants of admission in April, and CSUSB doesn't notify them until July. So if a person were to be accepted into both programs, how would they be able to make the decision? The person would have to accept CSULA's offer and then wait until CSUSB notified them in July and then possibly have to withdraw from CSULA program a month before it starts? It's so confusing. Thanks for any info ?

Me too..I am very nervous about it too because I was reading the CSULA 2015 thread and I saw that everyone had really high GPA :sorry:. I got Cs for some of the non pre-req classes and they are really dragging down my overall GPA. Anyways when I was reading the 2015 thread, some people said it's too late to take the TEAS in December. I might take it around October or something.

Yikes. That's good to know. Thanks. I will prob shoot for October too. I tried to find a testing date around that time at CSULA, but I couldn't find any. I wonder if they just don't show them this far in advance?

Hi! I am also planning on applying for Fall 2016! All I have left is Microbiology and am currently taking Statistics for my summer term. Almost done!!! Good luck to you all! I really hope CSULA will post the point system for fall application soon... I mostly researched the application process of CSULB but now I'm looking into CSULA.

CSULA application stuff is supposed to be posted in September. I wish it were sooner! Good luck to you as well. The CCC bridge program sounds awesome. I'm gonna look into it! Thank you ?
