CSULA Fall 2016 Nursing (BSN)

Updated:   Published

I realize it may be early, but I wanted to start a thread for the CSULA Fall 2016 nursing program hopefuls. I'm sure we will all have a lot of questions, especially because of the upcoming semester conversion. I have plenty of questions about application deadlines, volunteer hours, TEAS, etc. It will be nice to have a community where we can ask each other questions and offer advice. Eventually we can share stats, and we may even end up in the same cohort!

Hi guys. I have a lot of confusion about volunteer hours, and I really hope you can clear some of them for me! Here is my situation, I'm currently volunteering at a surgical center because my friend works there and she told me they need volunteers. The nurse director AKA the manager there told me to type up a volunteer certificate myself, and she will sign it after I complete with 100 hours of volunteer. Now here is the thing, if I can type the certificate myself, then I can also just signed it myself. How does the school know that I really volunteered there?? I am really afraid the school doesn't accept that:(

I believe we only need 1 chemistry class, which is 4 units.

Thank goodness. I'm just finishing it up, and I never want to do another chemistry class again. Haha. Thank you ?

As far as I know, the verification of volunteer hours has to list your duties and has to be on letterhead. If it meets the criteria and is signed by the nurse director, then it should be valid.

I'm pretty sure we only need four chemistry units.

Oh thank you so much!!Just out of curiosity, what classes are you taking right now?? And when are you planning to take the TEAS? ?

No problem, and I know right!! We are so lucky we don't have to take the second chemistry class, not a big fan of organic chemistry

Hey guys!

I'm trying to apply for the 2016 fall semester, but I can't find anything on the website. I'm assuming the deadline is jan 2016, but I still don't know the exact prereqs. Can you guys link a website or anything helpful? Thanks! :)

I'm just finishing up chemistry, public speaking, and developmental psych. In a couple of weeks I start summer, and I will be taking anatomy and ENG 104. What classes are you doing? I'm not sure when to take the TEAS. That's something that's been on my mind. I'm not ready to take it yet, but I don't want to wait too long! Yikes. They just need the English and math scores, right?

I'm applying for fall 2016 too. There's nothing on the website right now. When I called, someone in the nursing dept. told me it would be up around August/September. She also told me the deadlines would remain the same for fall 2016 (sometime in January). I have the info from last year at home. (I printed it out as a reference, but it's not available anymore.) As far as I know, the pre-reqs are anatomy, physiology, chemistry, english, speech, critical thinking class, stats, and microbiology. I will double check when I get home and let you know if I have anymore info. (You can also check assist.org)

So this is what I have written down as far as deadlines (somebody correct me if I'm wrong or add to this if you have more info):

* apply to CSULA between Oct. 1 - Nov. 30, 2015

* apply to nursing school between Sept. 2015 and Jan 2016

* anatomy, physiology, chem, English, speech, and critical thinking class must be completed before by the end of Winter

* stats and micro need to be completed by the end of Spring

* TEAS must be turned in by the nursing school app. deadline in January 2016

* verification of volunteer hours must be submitted before March 2016

I hope that helps. Like I said, I will let you know if I have any other info at home. And feel free to add to this if you have more info!
