Thank you gifts for nurses?

Nurses General Nursing

A couple of our units this semester have been exceptionally good to us & I would like to think of a little something in addition to a card to give to the nurses from the students this time.

Any ideas?

Thanks for feedback!

We've received bagels, flavored coffee, homemade cookies, & other food-type items from different clinical groups. It's always yummy & disappears quickly! (Some of us are still more touched by the personal notes of thanks in the card!)

We've gotten yummies too. Donuts usually. :)

Some sort of good (maybe fragrance-free) large bottle of hand lotion to keep at the main desk?

A thank-you card, one for each nurse you worked with (one group card is nice, but an individual card, the nurse can look at at home a realize he/she made a difference).

Coffee mugs, with a sweet saying on the side (i.e. "Property of One Exceptional Nurse") or cups.

Nice pens (the hospital provides pens sometimes, but they're usually el cheapos that don't write worth a crap).

I agree with the other posters; we always brought lunch/dinner for the units that we wanted to thank, along with maybe some flowers and a card signed by all of us..

If it is a particular nurse you want to thank- and the hospital has one of the coffee shops that so many have now (Ours is called the Oasis?) They sell coupons for an individual coffee/drink/chai etc. That would be entirely appreciated and used, almost immediately.

Thank you for doing something to recognize these nurses, you are ensuring that future students will have a positive experience on the floor!

What about clinical instructors? I had a great one this semester and i'd like to get her something. Do you think something nurse related or something non nursing related like bath and body works or a yankee candle...? If nursing related, does anyone have any good ideas and not very expensive?

At my job, the nursing students usually bring goodies from the bakery, pizza, coffee, soda, and a thank you card. So basically any type of fattening food full of sugar and carbs you can get your hands on plus a nice thank you card!!:)

A GC to an office supply store (they usually get a planner, which is why i suggested the OS store)?

Planners are usually under $15.

The last time one of my boys was in the hospital I took a little basket full of pocket sized hand creams to the desk and left it. I made sure there were plenty to go around. It went over very well.

We just got the most BEAUTIFUL basket of seasonal fruit from a very happy patient on the occasion of her daughter's first bday (she had a long L/D and nursery stay). IT was WONDERFUL , healthy and very creative. She even hand-crafted the card that came with it.

IF you make a basket, forgo the junk food and popcorn, and fill it with healthy things for the staff----I also like the hand lotion idea, too.

It's very nice of you to think of them this way. I am sure whatever you do will be well-received.

How about sending in lunch via Subway or something like that? I agree that individual cards are a nice touch as well.
