  1. My understanding is that it includes clinic nursing. I work in outpatient cardiology and my manager is encouraging me to take the exam. Ps congrats on your new adventure!!
  2. I work fulltime 7a-3p and go to class 5p-10p 4 days a week. My boyfriend works two jobs. On top of all that we have a 2 y/o. We survive by making the most of our little time together. (also thinking about all the time we will have together when Im only working 3 12's makes it alil easier :chuckle ) Sumone told me when I was having doubts about NS due to just having a child that "its the quality of the time you spend together not the quantity" The saying goes for me and my hunny as well.....

I liked the patch while I was using it despite the fact it didnt serve its purpose and I now have a two year old daughter.
  4. started at the age of 19 1 week after my birthday and 3 weeks after the birth of my daughter....finihsed prereqs last summer and starting Nursing II tonight at 5p :)
  5. I started my pre reqs for nursing school when my daughter was 3 weeks old (a week after my 19th birthday). I took a year off after graduating high school and got pregnant, then decided I need to figure out a career for myself FAST! So to make a long story short, I wouldnt be in nursign school if I didnt have my daughter. She put my life into perspective and became my driving force. I will agree that it would be a WHOLE lot easier if I went to school before I had her, but its cool I love my life the way it is!!!
  6. At my job, the nursing students usually bring goodies from the bakery, pizza, coffee, soda, and a thank you card. So basically any type of fattening food full of sugar and carbs you can get your hands on plus a nice thank you card!!:)
  7. Relax??? :chuckle I wish!!! I worked fulltime (still do while in school) and took prereqs. I actually took two summer courses right before going into nursign school. Wish I could have quit my job n did nothing. Good luck n enjoy your month off!!
  8. I took A&P Iand II this past summer. So I was in class Mon-THur 6p-10p for 10 weeks. I wouldnt say I didnt study but I barely studied. I got an A in I and a B in II. I guess since I was in class basically all week everything was fresh in my mind. It was like get taught a chapter or two each class with a test every Monday. On Sat and Sun I would look over my notes. For a few test I rewrote my notes and made flashcards but after that I never looked at the notes/cards again!! Does that count as studying? :wink2: Good luck
  9. Hey!! I took A&P I and II this past summer in 10 weeks total! I got a A in A&PI and a B in A&PII. It was really rough especially with working fulltime and having my daughter, but it can be done. :wink2: I recommend the coloring book, flash cards, and rewriting your notes. Oh and read over your notes (all of them) at twice a day. You'll be fine. Good luck! :icon_hug: Janice
  10. We use Code Green for elopements!!
  11. :yeahthat: I second that!!
  12. At the psych facility I work in as far as training, all staff are mandated to participate in NCI, which is non-violent crisis intervention. During this inservice, the instructor goes over ways to handle situations without hurting yourself or the pt. For example, they show how to get out of a choke hole or if the pt grabs your wrist how to get them to let go. Agressive pts. family and etc......The staff dials a # that tells security to announce "Dr. Strong- (with the Unit)" over the PA when extra man power is needed due to an incident. This alerts staff on other units that they need to get to the particular unit that is having issues. :) We've been hearing alot of those announcements lately too
  13. During my first year of prereqs I worked overnite at Target unloading trucks and stocking shelves. (Now in my first year of the nursing program, Im the administrative assistant for the nursing supervisors at a psych facility.
  14. From my understanding Delaware is tax free......but I still think theres a catch to it. If the state is tax free they got to have some "hidden fees" or something like that! :wink2:
  15. I work in a psychiatric facility, and one of the patients has been going out for ECT for the past few months. I could have asked one of the nurses or docs at work but it always slipped my mind while at work and now Im on my "vacation before I have no life for four months!" so Im asking before it slips my mind AGAIN! Im a secretary who starts NS in a week and I was wondering how ECTs are done now days? Is it still the same as what you described?
