  1. My employer started it for me sorry
  2. I was able to order mine through my college and used a service called Parchment.
  3. @sergel02OK so my HR told me that she could help me with that and it would cost $100. She wasn't sure about the rest? Do you have to go to school after this and I don't understand the difference between the credential and clear credential.
  4. Hi there, any update on this? I'm looking to get a school nurses credential but am confused where to start. Thanks
  5. i am planning on working night shift on med/surg and that was really helpful.. thank you for ur tips!!
  6. I'm going to be working night shift on a med-surg floor as an extern this summer so the responses you will be getting would be interesting to catch up on. Currently, I have been working day shifts and it's pretty easy to just politely get another nurse or preceptor's attention and ask them a question. You should never feel stupid asking a question b/c a nurse should understand where you are coming from since they were once brand new, too!
  7. Oh wow... all white! That is a tough one, at least my school allows white tops and khaki pants. HOpefully lots of bleach will do the trick for ya!! Besides that, I'm sure others will understand if you are not completely stain-free during ur shift because we are still new nursing students there for learning and gaining experience!! :)
  8. I understand exactly where you are coming from, but other than that, I'm not sure what else you can do besides working ur chain of command!
  9. At my school, nursing is a pretty stressful and tough major. Although, when I'm sitting @ home studying & everyone else is out partying I like to tell myself, "If nursing was so easy, everyone would be doing it!" :)
  10. Curlyfries: Some hospitals around my school are offering the 20/40 Financial Assistance Program for Registered Nurses. Here's the link: http://www.memorialmedicalcenter.org/jobs/index.html You should check if they have that around your school or where you are planning to work and look into it. They help you out financially, but there are some catches to it. I believe you have to work for them as a full-time registered nurse for two years for every two semesters you are receiving money from them while you have to work part-time @ that hospital and enrolled in the nursing program @ the same time. Good luck!
  11. Wow, I'm surprised this became such an interesting topic! I guess there's such a big difference in a nurse's salary based on where one lives. I have some nurses who live in my neighborhood and they are pretty much "bling bling" bc they seem to be able to afford to go on vacations, Hummers, convertibles, basically nice cars, bikes, boats & nice houses. My friend's aunt is an RN, and she just bought a 1.6 million dollar house!
  12. I totally agree with that!! Go Roy Fokker! :)
  13. Well, I guess in my area.. professors, friends, fellow classmates, and family thinks thats where all the money is at...
  14. Thanks everyone for the quick replies! :w00t: A girl in my class also told me that after she graduates she wants to move to the bay area where nurses make 80K. Well, in my area in CA, RN's make about $29-45 so I don't know how good/bad that compares to other areas. Let me know! Thanks...
  15. I know that money doesn't indicate the amount of care, but when I talk to my fellow classmates, it seems like all they care and talk about is rushing out of the program and will do anything it costs to do it so they can start working full time at a hospital ER so they can buy themselves a fancy shmancy house and car. Thanks Irisinthemorning and William_SRNA for the helpful comments!
