University of West Florida FNP Fall 2022!
Hi! I received an acceptance email from my admissions counselor, but no official correspondence from the department. I am also not able to sign up for an advising appointment and my application status hasn’t changed. Has anyone else heard?

University of West Florida FNP Fall 2022!
Hi, my application still says “File sent to Department” and I haven’t received any emails letting me know today. My friend applied as well, and she received a rejection letter, unfortunately. Anyone else’s application still saying File Sent to Department?

Go back to clinic job or stick out med surg job?
Hello, I’m looking for advice. I am a new RN for almost a year (graduated in May 2021). My first job was at a cardiology clinic, which was of course Monday - Friday, 8 am-5 pm. I loved that job and my coworkers, but the drive to work (45 mins - 1 hour) was what ultimately gave me the idea to apply to a job closer to home. I had that job for about 7 months. I applied for and accepted a new grad RN residency position at a local hospital on the post-surgical/ortho floor. It’s been two weeks in this job and I have developed an insane amount of stress and anxiety, even on my off days. I just dread going back to work and when I’m at work, I’m extremely anxious. There is obviously a huge learning curve with this job, but I am very tempted to go back to my previous clinic job. I left on good terms (gave a one month notice) and all of my coworkers and the nursing director there love me. I have spoken with the director and he told me that they would love to have me back, and at a new clinic opening up closer to my home. I have an 11 month old baby and while it has been nice to have week days off with her in this new job, I have gone 7-10 day stretches working opposite shifts as my husband and it has been hard on us already. I do not want to burn any bridges with this hospital, and I know that this current job would give me invaluable experience and look great on my resume for future jobs, but I don’t know if I can mentally go through a full two years in this setting. My preceptorship is up in mid-May and that’s when I would have to sign the two-year contract. If I stick this job out for two years, I know it would open doors for my career but I have been struggling so much already. Please, I am looking for advice and kind words. Thank you so much.

Is it hard to move from the clinic setting to hospital?
Hi! I graduated RN school in May 2021 and got my first job at a cardiology clinic. I was a medical assistant while in school and am comfortable with the medical office setting, so it’s a good transition for me as a new grad. My ultimate goal is to be a cath lab nurse, so I feel that I need to transition to the hospital setting in med-surg as soon as I can. I feel I may get bored easily with this clinic job, unfortunately, because it is a lot of the same job duties as what I did as a medical assistant. My question is, would it be difficult for me to transition to the hospital setting with clinic experience only? I know RN’s are always needed in the hospital setting but I am just looking for advice and others’ experiences. I am a new grad, so the nursing life is all new to me. Thanks!

Can a cardiology clinic nurse take the CV-BC exam
Hi! I am a new graduate and just accepted my first RN job as a cardiology clinic RN. I have been researching my career advancement opportunities (I LOVE cardiology and can’t wait to explore my options). That being said, I stumbled upon the “Cardiac Vascular Nursing Certification.” It stated that two years of experience is needed before I can take the exam and get certified - does that include clinic nursing or is it exclusive to CCU, cath lab, acute care patients? Thanks so much!

Choosing Between Two Jobs - So Conflicted
Hi, I just graduated in May and passed my NCLEX on August 11th. I have two job offers, one is med-surg at the hospital, overnight shift. The other is at a cardiology clinic Monday-Friday 8-5. I have gone back and forth. Deep down in my heart, I truly want the med-surg job because I want to keep all of my skills current, that I just spent two years learning. The only dilemma I have is that I have a 3 month old daughter at home and she is my priority, which includes making sure she is taken care of. I feel like the overnight shifts will be difficult to work around because my husband works 24 hour shifts as a firefighter/paramedic. The hospital has expressed that they would do the absolute best they can with working around his schedule, but I am worried. I was a medical assistant while in nursing school so I am familiar with the clinic side, but not as an RN. The clinic job obviously has stable hours and I would always have daycare covered, but my heart is just pulling me to start in the hospital, it’s an indescribable feeling I cannot ignore. I am also worried about not utilizing my nursing skills to the full extent. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!
