Nope, as along as their not offensive, they can hang out. Really..who doesnt have a tattoo nowadays? :D LOL. (yes i know the next 25 posts will be from people stating they dont have a tattoo.)

Well, I don't have one, but I do want one :D I'm getting it in 2010 come hell or high water.

And to answer the OP...same as Crux1024: if they're not offensive, my workplace doesn't care.

Nope, my job doesn't care if I cover mine or not.

From my large inner city hospital, "When possible, tatoos should not be visible and body piercing to a minimum." I have one on my wrist which often shows and has never been a problem.

No, but mine is covered by my scrubs anyway.

No. We have several staff with very obvious tattoos. Mine usually don't show, unless I'm not wearing a long sleeved shirt.

Our employee dress code doesn't even address them.

Sometimes I think the covering of them draws more attention to the area than the tattoo itself. And no, I don't have any, don't plan on getting any.........

our dress policy says they must be covered. But they don't inforce it. for a while they did, and all the LAB people walked arround with big bandages on their arms. Yea, because thinking your tech has a big open wound is better than seeing a tat?

As long as offensive tats are covered here in BC (Canada) then they're fine- I've seen a CNA with full sleeves and nurses with plenty- and piercings just have to be in as studs instead of rings, in case they get ripped out.

sorry WH&S is workplace health and safety.

Totally! Hell, even when I worked at Blockbuster, I came to work ONE day with gauze covering the tattoo on my forearm and at the end of the day took it off. My coworker looked over and said "Oh thank god, you have a tattoo! I thought you cut yourself or something!" (on purpose). I looked at my manager and told him it was far more horrible to customers to think I have a gash in my arm than to see a freaking butterfly tattoo, and that I wouldn't be wearing the gauze anymore. And he agreed!

nope. i work at a SNF/rehab & i believe that theyre policy says as long as the tattoos isnt offensive or vulgar, its ok. im a RN with 1/2 sleeves & forearm tattoos that will eventually be full sleeves.

as far as piercings, i dont think were supposed to have facial. i have my septum & flip it up while im @ work but other nurses & CNAs have their nostrils, monroes... no problem there either. i have 1" lobes & 2gauge conches & they dont care about those either.

I've been wondering the same thing. The 2 that I have are concealed but I want a small one behind my ear but I'm concerned about whether an employer would have issues with it.
