Skirts, anyone???

I don't wear one here in the states but when I am working in Zimbabwe I am required to wear a dress/skirt. I find them to be really comfortable and much cooler in the heat (I don't have to wear any kind of hose, just shoes/sandals)- I think the biggest argument against them is that they aren't practical, espicially in some of the positions nurses get into to move pts etc. I found that after a while you just learn how to work with them and didn't have any problems. One thing I found that did help was buying a split slip, kind of like a coulottes thing, to insure that I would always be covered.

I would really like to wear one, but the stockings are what is stopping me. I avoid stockings/pantyhose like the plague. When it gets to the point that I need to wear them on a regular basis, I probably will start wearing a skirt sometimes. I also agree with Lori. After wearing them throughout twelve years of Catholic school, there are ways to get around in them. I also did the slip-shorts thing because the boys would linger at the bottom of the stairs to enjoy the view when we girls were going up the stairs. :imbar :chuckle

My uniforms are a mix of scrub dress, scrubs, and I don't know what you call them. Some call them golf skirts, kind of like the scooter skirts of the '70's. From behind its like knee length shorts but with a "skirt" apron, drape over the front. Looks like a skirt from the front but allows me to bend, climb, whatever. Crest makes them.

Nobody has ever objected to them (someone said I couldn't wear shorts at work but as I pointed out it wasn't shorts)

It's easy to move in a dress, you just don't buy them skin tight. There are some nice two piece skirt, jacket combos out there.

They don't just come in white anymore, pretty much all the scrub colours.

no skirts or dresses for me. :nono: i don't even like wearing skirts or dresses socially let alone professionally. Yuck! I hate pantyhose even more. I think we should be aloud to wear muu-muus to work everyday. :chuckle

:chuckle i'm not sure i could get away with a skirt. my wife keeps telling me i'd look funny in one and i just don't want the headache of shving my legs. :chuckle

hate panty hose too. Can wear hose and garter belt. I know sound uncomfortable but not really. Of course, I grew up wearing them. Dresses for church are a must for me.

alot of the cna's where i worked used to wear the scrub dresses- i loved the look and when i find a job, i'm seriously considering on buying some.

I don't think that skirts are very practical. Scrubs are for me...all the way!
