i am just so happy to have reaped rewards from being a participant, from gaining knowledge from rns more knowledgeable about a subject than me (and this does'nt mean from those who have doctorate degrees either!), from having the safety to vent here and not have to do it at work and lose my cool...that i find myself wanting to share this website with other nurses who i know would benefit from this site as i most assuredly have!

i found myself this morning telling all of the nursing students that this site is a resource i have found invaluable. almost like a religious zealot trying to point sinners to the "way." i would have gained a lot had i known about this site as a student. i know that for sure.

anyway, who, for whatever reason (perhaps i would really like to know the why) have you shared this terrific resource with?

I tell my co-workers...especially when I get compliments on the great tricks I've learned here. "Yep, learned it on All Nurses."

Oh I've done that...especially to tell them to do a search this forum for IV start tips...woh, here comes the mother load!

There've been a couple of time when I've said things like "I don't know let me ask my friends on Allnurses.com....I usually can get an answer very quick" and have asked questions.

Brian gave us mods dozens of pins one year and I passed them out at work and those pens are still floating around.

One of my co-workers always says "Don's on Allnursesarecool.com" let's ask them a question!" :)

I try not to give away that I'm Tweety, just for some privacy, but I don't care if they know. I won't post anything I'm ashamed of or that's so private I don't want them to know. I usually won't say anything, or vent any concerns that I can't address in person.

there are a couple of ladies in my nutrition class and when I was in the library the other day, they saw me on the site and went crazy. Now keep in mind that the library is supposed to be a quiet place, not for those women. Today everyone in the class wanted to know about this marvelous site and want to join. YEY ALLNURSES!!! Thank you Telerner for this useful post!!

I am still waiting to get into the nursing program but I am constantly looking over this website to get the real feel for what nursing is and what challenges are possibly ahead for me. I have told numerous people (including nursing students) about this website, and they just seem disinterested. Their loss! People around me will often hear me say "I was reading on allnurses that...." This is by far the best website I have ever accidentally run into! :nurse:

I don't tell anyone.

Not that this site is not the best for nursing, but because I found the most interesting Internet hospital policy.

Basically it says that no employee can talk about the hospital at all, for any reason, even if it's to say something good, on the Internet.

So if I'm identified, I probably will get canned, and poof! there goes my life as my family knows it.

Told many of my co-workers, they all like it after joining.

I wish I had known about it long before, anyway, better late than never.

As much as I love this site, I do not share it with others. As a previous poster mentioned, I believe that you have to care enough about your own profession to seek out resources. Also, because many intimate things are discussed (even though we are anonymous), you never, NEVER know who is posting here. I can be communicating with my own supervisor for all I know. And, if there is a hint, (no matter how slightly mentioned) of familiarity, I would have to go through too much trouble to probably change my handle (which I refuse to do, because I love the name I chose for myself) and not feel as free to speak on matters in a safe environment. But, yes, love allnurses.com, I do!!

I can't blame you for that one. I do think that we deserve a safe place to vent our concerns, frustrations and even our joys. I can also understand why a person would want to shout to the rooftops about this site, because it is invaluable! But, as I mentioned earlier, and another poster mentioned it before me, a person should have more concern on their career to venture and find things on their own. And, depending on the story being shared, exposing ourselves may lead to future problems I'd just rather avoid.

good luck to you in your attempts to get into nursing school. I LOVE being a nurse. I waited until my son was in HS since I am a single mom, and the desire just got stronger all those yrs. I am soooo glad I did it.

I talk it upall the time. No one has to know my screen name. The bossman -Brian- has provided us mods with some surcies (college talk for free gifts) and I've handed a bunch out. Everyone I tell seems pleased toknow about the site.
