I can't believe this....

Nurses General Nursing

Need to vent just a moment. Just found out that the nurses on the unit are fighting over which shift gets the sandwiches a doctor sent them. Fighting over sandwiches...and they wonder why nurses don't get respected!

I once saw a shoving match over a bag of unsalted blue corn chips. The tins and baskets always cause a row too.

LOL - I can just see it. Maybe they should put that scene in the next J&J "be a nurse" commercial.

:icon_roll

And NO I have never seen two accountants or two administrators duking it out over a bag of corn chips or a sandwich.

Aw, heck why fight? They ought to feel lucky----where I work the day shift gets em all....

and we get crumbs. Nothing at all to fight OVER.

I just know Iwill be bringing in my own dinner for Christmas. That's the way it is....no need to fight. How juvenile.

Would be nice if the docs would send trays for each shift. Then "they" could fight like wild animals during their own shift. We had this happen too. One of the EMS Co. sent over gourmet coffee bags. They were put into the break room and about 2 hrs later they were all gone. After some I&I (investigation and interrogation) the guilty ones eventually took the bags out of their lockers. Can you imagine? I remember one of the guilty ones complaining to me about a buffet/take out restaurant that wanted to charge $1.00 extra if you couldn't close your lid on your take out box. She was *****ing about $1.00!!! I told her SHE SHOULD be expected to pay extra....can't stand that something for nothing you owe me attitude.

what a group of selfish people worried about which shift will get free sandwiches...i say, drop them all off at a local shelter !!!!!!!!! Let someone who really needs them have them !!!!

Where I work, we divide things up between the 3 shifts...... It is only fair!!

As an RN student, I love nurses...but I'll respect them in the morning :lol2:

The next shift does not use the mailbox system, if though they've been told they have to, because according to the charge nurse they fight over who's going to be what color.

Man, and I thought my family was bad for argueing over getting "their" monoploy tokens.

Ok, the humor is waning now- have these people no sense of embarassment at their own greed? I hope this is not the same person who complains when patients ask for a snack from the kitchen. I think there are some of us out there that need to mature a little before going out in public.

That Is Crazy.

Well, were they Spam sandwiches? :chuckle

I would betcha there are other more serious problems that the sandwitches serve as a stand in for.

But, with my 10 year history of working the noc shift, there are problems with foods and snacks donated.

It has been the "policy" that when the company provides the food/pizza the boxes and containers are left out all day, thats 16 hours folks. Then noc shift comes on and can eat to their hearts content. Botulism? Food poisnioning sound like fun? Of course then it is expected noc shift clean up the mess and have the facility in shipshape order when they leave.

I understand family and doctors see am and pm shift workers, and are upset to hear from us noc workers. But, most of us really care and work hard on nights. We really are the forgotten. The christmas cards and thankyou cards are really always for the other shifts, like as if we twiddle our thumbs, most of the pts who need to talk - do so at night to the staff, share their worries and concerns and we have a little more time to listen. So, yes those sandwiches do belong to all the shifts. But, when we fight, it's for respect and understanding, not the stupid sandwiches.
