Dear Lord in Heaven, what a couple of days.

For those who don't know, I have a little boy who will be 12 weeks old tomorrow. I went back to work 8 weeks after he was born, and have worked a steady full-time schedule since, including overtime. My DH and I, after several nights of my not getting home until 9 and eating supper at 10, decided that I was going to quit and stay home with the baby.

I gave my notice on Wednesday, and the girl the does the scheduling promptly takes me off the schedule for everything after two weeks. Problem is, I told the office manager that I would stay until the new girl gets her license. That's about 4 weeks. We have no clue about where the 2 week thing came from, when I was shown the 'new' schedule, I assumed that that was what the scheduling girl and the managers had decided upon. They assumed that I was not going to stay until the new girl got here. HUGE misunderstanding. So, yesyerday, the owner asked if I was going to stay that long, and I agreed.

Scheduling girl had scheduled herself for all kinds of overtime, to the tune of 6 days a week, and came in bawling her eyes out today, accusing me of playing games and screwing her out of her overtime.

So, she proceeds to call anyone she can think of that will listen, crying and having her little attack of the poor pitifuls, and then proceeds to tell the owner that all I do is cry and that I don't want to work. Office manager nixed that one, she had the numbers to prove that I do in fact work my shifts, and then some. And the only time I cried was after I told them I was leaving, and that didn't last long.

Sounds like sour grapes to me, but it steams my clams too. I mean, really? I agreed to work an extra 2 weeks because one of the owners is in hospital, and not likely to get to come home any time in the foreseeable future. I don't want to cause any more trouble that I already am. But at this point, pish.

Anyone deal with anything like this, ever? Am I wrong? Anything to do, since she's still toting her rear end around on her shoulders and not speaking to me? I THOUGHT we were all adults here. Looks like I thought wrong.

Yes, sour grapes. It sounds like she was looking forward to the extra cash and had thought it a done deal. Her temper tantrum is not your problem. Divorce yourself from it.

Thank you. I told the owner that, if it was going to cause such a rumpus, I'd just do the 2 weeks and be gone (although I'm staying PRN) and she would not hear of it.

I know she's only making herself look like a child, running and telling tales, and I hate it for her.

You're right, I need to divorce myself from it and count the days I have left.

Tell Scheduling girl to "suck it up" I am SURE during those two weeks, someone will call out and she will have the same opportunities.

Sounds like a bratty drama queen. Soooo not your problem! I just feel for the poor blokes that have to work with her in the future!

Apparently she realized how she was acting...she just apologized. Ish. Ok, now to have a make-up donut and go on with our day. You just gotta love it!

There are people who pull this kind of stunt almost everywhere at any given time. Sometimes it is impossible not to be a victim of their selfishness. Sadly, this type usually has the ear of the boss(es).

as for the scheduler girl - pity the fool and move on.

But - at least she was adult enough to step up & apologize; my experience has been that that's fairly rare (as in, I was totally shocked when a co-worker apologized to me about 3 weeks ago - caught me completely off guard.) and worthy of an extra donut in recognition. Nomnomnomnom...

Congratulations! As for the scheduler, she was mad that she wasn't able to pull in overtime cash. She'll get over it.
