That is very interesting. Do you really think they are doing subliminal stuff there? I think you are correct.
All I know is WE ARE COMMITTED TO VERY GOOD CARE at that radiology dept!!!

lol. I never say that stuff. Our unit coordinator went to a press-gainey conference and he was saying they were saying to teach staff to say that kind of stuff. We laugh about it. Our unit has the best press-gainey scores in the hospital anyways, so our manager generally isn't very concerned with improving them. She just talks about raw scores a lot at the unit conferences and how great they are. It goes in one ear and out the other, mostly.

It's better than forcing the staff to follow a script.

"Hello I am Casi, your nursing assisnt for today. I am dedicated to give you very good care. Can I get you a sandwich or take some abuse from you? I have the time."

We sound like workers from MacDonald's. If they have to script us when we introduce ourselves, are we going to be capable of independent thought when someone loses a pulse?

Here's something almost as funny- in our Braslow bag for pediatric codes the IV kits come with instructions.

We have "VERY GOOD CARE" at our hospital too! We also have a sign in every room that says "WE STRIVE FOR 5's." We are supposed to tell pt's on discharge that "we strive for 5's" when we tell them about the survey they will get in the mail, but I typically don't do it because I sound SO dumb. LOL.

Same stupid stupid BS in Michigan too.

I once was given a card for my badge to say, "HI, My name is Ang, I will be your nurse today. Your dx is pneumonia, expect a 3 day stay."

We were expeted to tell people how long they were going to be in. I was like "WTH??" . I asked what do we tell them if they go home faster or have complications? BTW no one used it.

Do they really think I cannot talk for myself. Really we are professionals here. I think I can handle introducing myself to my patients.

Press Gainey is EVIL.

I feel that we're doing a grave injustice to our patients by calling them clients. Try working here in Ontario, Canada our Hospitals are so far in debt, we're the first line to go & yet they tell us to smile be pleasant & take the abuse
