Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hello all, I am curious to see what the current pay rate is across the country so we can better prepare ourselves and negotiate better salaries! Please try to keep this poll to any graduates after 2010. Thanks!

1) State

2) Hourly Salary

3) Experience, if any

4) Specialty, if any

Here's mine:

NJ

$26/hr new grad, no exp., recently changed jobs $33/hr 1 yr exp.

Only 1 year old RN :saint:

Nephrology/dialysis

Specializes in Cardiac.

1) Georgia - rural area, not Atlanta

2) $27.01

3) no RN experience, just graduated in DEC 2013, but I had experience as a shift supervision at a LTC

4) CPCU - cardiac step down unit

Specializes in Emergency Room.

1) Illinois

2) 31.41 (this is after + $4.00 shift differential for night shift)

3) 6 months

4) ER

I think what we're learning here is California rocks, but I could be a little biased. ;)

I just received my first official offer yesterday!

1) Northern NJ (Greater NYC area)

2) $37/hr

3) No experience, new BSN grad

4) Med-surg

I was actually surprised by the #, I had a classmate hired into a very competitive new grad program in NNJ and she's getting in the lows 30's per diem.

Central PA

$24/hr +10% night and 10% weekend differential

New grad, no previous health care experience

NICU/postpartum

Specializes in Critical Care, Clinical Documentation Specialist.

1) Oregon

2) 33.00 +shift diffs

3) New grad

4) Critical Care (starting $ applies to any dept)

Is the cost of living THAT much lower in places where the pay is like $19/hr?

I am in CA, I would not be happy with less than $25/hr but rent is high here.

The average rent in my area is $500 for a single family home with a nice sized yard.

1. OH

2. 22.00/hr

3. New grad

4. SNF

Specializes in NICU, PICU, PCVICU and peds oncology.
The average rent in my area is $500 for a single family home with a nice sized yard.

Wow... The same single family home with a nice yard (like the one next door to me that's vacant right now - 3 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, detached garage and fenced yard) runs about $1750 a month.

Specializes in ICU.

Not necessarily on the rent thing... I am renting a 3b/2br house with a 1 car garage and a matchbox yard, and I am paying $795. There are houses in my neighborhood renting well over $900. We start at $20/hr. So, I pay almost 40% of my take home income in rent alone... not to mention absolutely none of my utilities are included so after cable, water, sewer, and electricty I probably spend half of my take home income on where I live. It sucks.

Salary... I just got a second job so I'll post again.

First:

1. GA

2. $20/hr plus really bad differentials ($1-$2.25)

3. New grad

4. ICU

Second:

1. GA

2. $30/hr - unknown differentials as of yet, but I get them

3. 8 months

4. ICU - but PRN and no benefits.

Brooklyn, New York

$38.5/hr base pay

$0.74/hr Bsn

$0.76/hr experience

$3/hr night shift.

ER.

1) CA

2) $40 per hour (per diem)

3) no experience

4) fertility

BeccaBSN- WHERE in NNJ are they starting new grads at $37/hr???
