Just wondering how many in your student population ?

K-8, 360 students. We also have a preschool of 50+ students and I do some quick assessments when they have mysterious rashes and I am the judge as to when they can and can't be in class when there's a question about that. I treat their bites and other injuries. We are also attached to a church and I treat the church's staff illnesses and injuries. Our contract workers are always on-site doing painting/handyman work and remodeling and it's amazing how much first-aid I do for them.

Also, how big is your clinic, where is it located ?

I'm located in the back of the main hallway of the school, next to the cafeteria. It's a rectangular open clinic, no doorway and no privacy. I'm told I'll be moved next year to a previously used classroom where I'll have my own door!! But, for now, I have a long counter and a large closet. This large closet holds shelving for supplies, a mini fridge and a cot. I keep the lighting low in there for a student to rest when needed. Behind the counter I have 2 long counters, 3 chairs, and sink area where I work during the day and have lots of drawers for daily supplies and meds. I also have a rolling "crash cart" for daily meds that locks and this is where I work from most of the day. I keep RX meds and daily go-to stuff in there. I can roll my cart into my closet in the evening.

How many meds to you give each day.

5 scheduled meds & 1 Type 1 diabetic that visits me at lunch and PRN. Probably 20+ asthma kids that are all controlled and only see me PRN.

On average, how many kids do you see each day ?

I'd say I average 30 kids/day. 50 kids is a super-busy day.

How many beds ?

1 closet bed like I mentioned above.

We have 362 pre k-5th. I give 8 daily meds plus have 2 diabetics I manage. My office is attatched to the main office so I get roped into playing secretary a lot but my principal and secretary help cover me when I'm at lunch or out of my office so it's all good. It's rather small and I only have room for 1 cot. I see anywhere from 10-25 kids a day. Sometimes more during flu season.

Seems like am working for the wrong district... Lol our schools are much more crowded...

I'm in elementary. I have 916 in the school.

my clinic is pretty large. I have 1 room with 2 beds. Then I have a separate room with 1 bed. A large desk and a large storage closet. I have lots of cabinets, fridge, and sink.

I give 12 scheduled meds and about 3 prn inhalers per day.

I see 20-25 kids per day.

my office is in the front near the other office workers.

i have a bathroom and I have a shower.

High school 9-12. 750 kids. Nice sized office with bathroom, 2 cots, separate med room with a sink.

3000 high school kiddies

Also, how big is your clinic, where is it located ?

Clinic is located in one of the many buildings on campus. It includes Reproductive Services, Health Education, and Mental Health. I have my own little First Aid Clinic with a main area where my desk, sink, and supplies. Plus a chair for my students. Next to that is my cot room which has a curtain I can draw. There's two twin beds, my med fridge, and my regular fridge.

How many meds to you give each day.

I am suppose to see 1 regular kid for a controlled med, but he does not come and that's a issue the counselor is working out. The rest of my kids with meds are independent and/or I don't know about. The school does not enforce the medication law, but I have gotten a handful of medication orders which I either put in the student's chart or make one for them in case they come in regarding the medication.

Also, I have one student who comes in once a month for monthly allergy shots. I keep the solution in my med fridge and she comes during the appropriate time. The rest of my meds of PRN per our standing orders (ibuprofen, acetaminophen, Excedrin, phenylephrine, bismuth tablets, etc.)

On average, how many kids do you see each day ?

I can see from 10-40 students a day depending on the day. Average is 20-30. It's not that much, but in order for students to see me they have to have a consent form signed because the clinic is ran by the Public Health Dept. and not the school. Exceptions are emergencies and injuries on campus that day. When students come they have a chart made and all my charting is by hand. Also, if they just need a band-aid or cough drops they just get them from the front desk. If they just want to go home they can wait until lunch or call home from the front desk. They only see me if they want meds, an injury, or nursing eval. That drastically cuts down on my visits as well. I'm basically urgent care only. Also, I do flu shots (free for all students) and now vaccines (VFC only).

How many beds ?

2. However, if I run out of room and I need more beds and the NP isn't here that day I have 2 more exam rooms I can use.
