Specializes in IMC, school nursing.

I will set the bar low.

I have 112 kids.

I give 2 daily meds, one of which to my own kid.

I see around 10 kids a day, some days none.

I have a chair in a shared office, no bed. (New facility coming soon, my own suite)

I also function as the receptionist, my office is at the front of the school. Thankfully we only get 4 or 5 calls per day.

I love the "curious" games!

Just wondering how many in your student population?

I have about 300 - 9th to 12th

Also, how big is your clinic, where is it located?

Pretty small and cramped. I'm in an older building, so at least I have a bathroom! But, I'm on the 2nd floor which is a little frustrating.

How many meds to you give each day?

Scheduled - about 7ish.

On average, how many kids do you see each day?

Depends (of course!), but I can see anywhere from 15 to 40 not including my scheduled meds. I'm the "mean" nurse compared to last year since I actually expect kids to stay in class!

How many beds?

I inherited 4. And since this is my first year I didn't know any better. I think I'm going to try and get rid of one next year. I do not have a lot of space in here and rarely have I needed all four. In fact, one is really my work space more than anything.

Specializes in ED, School Nurse.

I work in a high school grades 9-12. My student population is about 650. Add another 250 to that on the days I cover the junior high too.

I give 6 daily medications, plus 1 diabetic student's lunch insulin. I oversee 11 other diabetic students. I average between 30 and 40 students a day, not counting the multiple requests for feminine hygiene products I get daily, which I do not document.

My office is about 15x15' with a short hallway leading to the main room. I have a bathroom with a shower in it in my office.

I am located a good 4 classrooms away from the main office. My office is located where it is because it used to be the only nurse office for the high school and junior high school (they are attached to each other). I'm kind of close to the middle of the 2 buildings. The junior high has it's own nurse now, but I am responsible for junior high students too when she leaves a couple of days a week to cover another school in the district.

I have 1 cot, an apartment-sized fridge/freezer, a tall locking filing cabinet and one of those tall metal cabinets. I just got a counter-top ice maker this year and I love it. I have a small wooden table with a fax machine on it and a big desk. I also have a locking wall-mounted med cabinet.
