When your out of control patient suddenly is an angel when primary rounds.
What grinds your gears?
Women especially use baby talk like that. It makes me mad LOL.
I happened to pick up a different shift once and I went to a floor for a rapid response or IV call (can't remember which), and one of the nurses asked if I was the "new rapid response nursey?" WOW!? I am not a nursey. I just looked at this other nurse like she was crazy and told her no that I was the rapid response nurse from nights picking up another shift.

O2 Stat makes me cringe.

2) Adults, particularly grown women, who regress to baby talk. Please, please, please do not tell me you have to "poopie" if you're 35 years old3) "Vomicking"
About the words people use - the one who has to poop might be embarrassed. wouldn't you be if you were normally self-care but were suddenly very or totally dependent?
Vomicking is wrong and can be annoying. However, lots of people hear their family members say this and are only repeating what they grew up with or live with. Knowing what is means is part of cultural competence.

^^THIS!!!
.....or people who say they got into nursing because they "like helping people", as if there is no other profession in the world where they can help people. Then complain how stressed they are at work trying to "help people"....i mean did they not research the profession....lol.
Last thing is, people who say they got into nursing because they will always have a job. Which is totally far from the truth.
(ok, done!) LOL

Duh... I think we all realize that but it still is annoying AND concerning about our educational system.

Yes!!!! I side eyed one of the patients the other day. This chick can stand up, WALK to the commode, then she presses the call light for us to wipe her. If you can do all this, why you need that from us? And have the balls to catch a attitude when we aren't there super quick. You have no problems using your hand stuffing your face , wipe your own ***.
