Yale 2015

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

I've never posted here before but I am going to be applying to Yale School of Nursing this fall for a 2015 start in the GEPN program, CNM/WHNP cohort. Wondering if there are others out there preparing to do the same? I'm heading down to their info session next week.

Hey, everyone! I'm applying to Yale also. PMHNP track here! I'm really anxious as I've never thought in a million years to apply to an ivy league school, but, hey, what's the worst that can happen? Good luck to everyone!!!

Hi Everyone!

Been lurking here for a while and this is my first post. I will be applying for the CNM track pretty soon. Just waiting for one more reference from a super busy CNM (I'm nervous that she won't get it in)! I was feeling semi-confident however I just took the GRE's and I'm feeling a bit discouraged (80% Verbal/40%Quantitative). I didn't take much time to study and it shows. Anyone have any idea about how this reflect's Yale's admissions? On their website it states that they do not accept or deny anyone on that alone, but I'm not fully reassured.

Anyways, good luck everyone on getting everything done! Deadline in a week!

Just submitted everything. Hoping my transcripts and letters will make it in time. I'm taking the GRE the day before the deadline. Yikes! Good luck!

I wouldn't worry about the GRE that much they're gonna look at the whole applicant. Schools aren't supposed to not admit you purely just because of GRE scores even the GRE website says that. I've seen that competitive scores are the 50 percentile for both verbal and quantitative. I mean if you really want to take it again you can and study for it but I don't know if you have time.

Hey all,

Thanks for all the helpful comments. Im applying for the FNP tract. That essay was a serious pain to put together. I am applying to UCSF and Colombia as well. Anybody else applying to other schools? Good luck!!!

JulieVrgn,

I got a very similar score. I got a 4 on the written portion. Everyone that i have talked to said the GRE is just a rubber stamp, especially the math portion. I would not stress about it. Good Luck!

I took it twice just because of their website stating the whole 50th percentile thing. I was taking my GREs at the same time as my pre-reqs for other programs I'm applying to, so I can't help but worry that my time may have been better spent focusing on pre-reqs.

When are they going to reach out to folks regarding interviews? I think saw on the website that the interviews will take place at the end of January. I realize we haven't even hit the deadline yet but I can't help but be eager to hear from schools!!

I've delved down to taking challenge exams for fun while waiting for interviews (Excelsior College). Nutrition could be the next stop.

I'm applying to Columbia, NYU, Stony Brook, and Pace. Hopefully I'll get in somewhere! I'm in a nursing program right now, but it's just terrible. I need out.

I just received this email from admissions: If selected for an interview, letters of invite will go out before Christmas break.

No idea if that means they start sending letters immediately after the deadline, or just before Christmas break. But there's some sort of answer. :)

Hi everybody! Recent lurker, first time poster, applying to the CNM track.

Because of delays due to a horrible breakup from an abusive man, I'm running full steam at this application last-minute! Terrible, I know.

I'm working on my essay, but the last question is really tripping me up:

6. Describe responsibilities that you expect to continue orassume, such as part-time work, etc., in addition to your role as a student.

I can't tell if they want to know whether the applicant will have time to be a full-time GEPN student, or if they want to see what other activities or skills the applicant will be working on during school. Does that make sense? Does anyone else have a better read on that part?

Thanks ladies!

It is my understanding that during the first year (rn portion) no one has time for anything but school. During the masters portion you will have time to work part time or get involved in one of the many opportunities through Yale. Hope that helps and good luck!!!
