Yale GEPN 2016
Congrats!!!! I was in a very similar place last year. My take is if you have the option of interviewing in person do it. That said my roommate did a phone interview and got in. I think getting the chance to go to interview day was really informative and it is as much an oppertunity for you to get to find out about the program and ask questions as it is for them to interview you.

Yale GEPN 2016
Our program is insanely diverse. We come from so many backgrounds. I can honestly say that the cohort is my favorite part of the program thus far. Also it is a lot smaller than some, like Columbia. Lastly realize the program is insanely fast paced, you will need to deal with crazy stress and keep moving forward.

Yale GEPN 2016
I tried to really focus on selling my story. Tying in experiences to the prompts and how all of my previous experiences really led me to end up at yale as an fnp student. Make sure you answer all the question and research as much as you can about the history of the school, they love our school history.

Yale GEPN 2016
We all focus so much on the gre that we forget that it is probably the worst metric when looking at an applicant for a program like this. Don't stress and focus on telling your story. What sets you apart from the other candidates what drew you to the field? Why will you be an amazing NP? They would much rather have a passionate, leader in this program than a 4.0 student good at factoring polynomials, that will not look you in the eyes when speaking to you. Any specific questions just let me know.

Columbia ETP 2015
Hey all, Looking for a little insight. I got accepted to Yale for the GEPN program (FNP) and Columbia for the ETP program (acute care) but I'm planning on switching to FNP if i go there. I am really torn on the decision. Anyone else out there in a similar boat? Any opinions on these programs in comparison to each other.

Columbia ETP 2015
You are all amazing, this information is so helpful, Thank you. I am coming out from Oakland with my partner for the new student day. My plan is to rent a 2 or 3 bedroom in Washington Heights in late April early May and find a couple of roommates. Im planning on setting up about a half dozen appointments to check out apartments the day after the orientation. Anyone that is interested in checking out what Washington heights apts and neighborhoods look like feel free to tag along. Im hoping to keep my portion of rent under $1000 hopefully closer to $800 but to be honest with the cost of the program a few thousand more, over the length of the program, to have a cool, cozy spot near campus would be worth it for me. One of my closest friends did this program a few years ago and strongly recommended Washington heights not only because of the proximity and price, but really enjoyed the neighborhood. I get a lot from studying with others so i hope to land housing with a few more ETP's going through the same insanity as me. Hit me up if any of you are interested [email protected] Congrats again!!!!
