I've never posted here before but I am going to be applying to Yale School of Nursing this fall for a 2015 start in the GEPN program, CNM/WHNP cohort. Wondering if there are others out there preparing to do the same? I'm heading down to their info session next week.
I may or may not have read most of my interviewer's thesis. Ha ha. BUT in my defense it is really interesting. I also downloaded a bunch of her papers and skimmed them. I'm pretty excited to meet her.
Seeing how your title mentions a doula, are you applying for the CNM branch? I'm a doula as well and will be interviewing with Professor Jevitt. Her thesis is extremely fascinating- looking at cultural constructions of British and American Midwives. But it's 350+ pages!
It was really interesting. I did skim some of it but I ended up getting absorbed in some of the passages and probably really read about 60%. I was just going to look it over initially, but I got sucked in. I would have read it regardless of interviews (likely it won't even come up) if I had found it at a book store or what have you. I am a chain reader of birth articles and books.
I believe we need to complete the YSN financial aid application form. It's pretty simple. Instructions and Forms | Yale School of Nursing
I just faxed it to their office and then mailed a hard copy.
I didn't think we'd get any of the Yale-specific financial aid stuff until decisions were made?
No the financial aid application is due Feb 1st.

Ooh good thing I check this page! Thanks for the links. I'll wrap up my snow day with some financial aid paperwork.

Hi all, interview day was fun. I wore a pant suit + button down + heels. As snoozy said, there were some people who looked underdressed. I think your best bet is to just choose something comfortable and professional.
My interview was very laid-back and pretty much a conversation. They would ask me a question, I'd respond or ask a question of my own, repeat. I did lots of interview prep, which was helpful in building confidence but probably unnecessary since I wasn't asked any deep behavioral or situational questions.
Admissions says they'd like to release decisions on Friday, February 27th, so hopefully that holds true.
Good luck to everyone interviewing this week and look up the weather reports since there's a incoming blizzard.
