I've never posted here before but I am going to be applying to Yale School of Nursing this fall for a 2015 start in the GEPN program, CNM/WHNP cohort. Wondering if there are others out there preparing to do the same? I'm heading down to their info session next week.
In regards to interview attire, I'll probably wear a pantsuit and a button down shirt/blouse. Debating between a white shirt or a colorful shirt; then I need to find some low black heels because all the heels I have are way too high.I was wondering if anyone is researching their interviewer? I don't know whether I should read up on all their published papers, or just keep it simple and know the basics about them...
I researched my interviewer. I've got access to some journals through work so I took advantage of that. She hasn't written very much, so I was able to review most of her papers. Turns out my interviewer is interested in patient assaults on staff in psychiatric units - never thought I'd be so grateful for my unruly patients!
As for attire - if I go with the suit, I'll probably do a nice bright printed shirt. I like that MP told us we're allowed to wear color - every med school forum I looked at said to dress as boring as possible. I was worried nursing school interviews might be the same. A few days ago I stumbled across a great lapis-blue dress that might just do the trick. I have some low pumps I plan on finding for the interview. I'm already pretty tall so I don't want to be bizarrely tall in case my interviewer is short.
It's great to look into your interviewer and faculty in general! That can make or break your grad school experience. You want to go to a school where the faculty can also be mentors!
I'm wearing one of my very favorite dresses with some nice riding boots, because this is comfortable and it reflects my personality. An interview should be fun! It's a time to explore interests and make human connections within an institution. I can't wait to meet some of you.
Biginterview.com has some amazing resources. Especially for behavioral interview questions. If I can find the specific link I will post it. It helps tease out the underlying questions that are within the big broad questions like "how do you Handel conflict" I highly recommend.
Good luck everyone I will let you know how it goes.
