Yale 2015

Published

I've never posted here before but I am going to be applying to Yale School of Nursing this fall for a 2015 start in the GEPN program, CNM/WHNP cohort. Wondering if there are others out there preparing to do the same? I'm heading down to their info session next week.

I've got nothing against hints BUT i imagine the questions are specific to the interviewer as well as the specialty. Old threads made it sound like it was more conversational than sticking to any sort of script. I need to re-review my personal statement since it seems like they'll pull a few things from that during the interview.

Mammal, if you can the find behavioral interview questions link I'd love to check that out. Are you already in New Haven? I'm a bit worried about getting lost between New Haven and Orange - nothing like interview jitters to break my sense of direction.

Hey all, I'm interviewing the 30th and live on the yale shuttle line in new haven, just wanted to post once more and to let anyone interested know that you can sleep on my couch if you don't want to spend money on a hotel. Added carpooling bonus if we have the same interview date ! Good luck and looking forward to meeting some of you the 30th!

Im on the plane as we speak. I decided to rent a car rather than deal with cabs/public transportation. I was thinking of wearing a fancy dress then decided that the interviewer may look down on that since i am a 29 year old man with a full beard :). Im wearing a charcoal suit no tie, but i will let you all know how dressed up/ professional the group looks. I also wanted to know if anyone got the email about a potluck for FNP hopefuls? A student is going to be hosting a dinner after the interview tomorrow for the FNP cohort. Here is the link to the interveiw blog The Master Guide to Behavioral Interview Questions. In a nutshell the idea ( i am sure you all know this) is that you come up with 4-5 stories that you can use as a basic starting point for questions about skills, conflict, communication...then taylor the story to the specific question. Or at least that was what i understood.

PsychRN, I'll be there the same day! My husband travels a lot for work so we have a ton of Hilton Honors Points that we used for two free nights. I am glad to know that a fellow AllNurses member will be there with me that day. Secret handshake? Ha ha

i second whoever wanted feedback on what to wear!

Mammal, I'll be at the potluck Thursday night. I'll pm you.

Awesome I look forwad to meeting you both. I don't know how many bearded guys there will be, I will be the one with a purple shirt!

Doing this kind of late but I had my interview yesterday and everything went pretty well in my opinion! My interviewer had a set list of questions but it was definitely more like a conversation than anything. They did build more questions off what you say (or at least my interviewer did) and built questions on experiences I mentioned.

What were applicants wearing? Was it a sea of suits? Good luck!! Now the wait!

Hi everyone! I interviewed yesterday for psych. I was really impressed with all of the presentations and everyone was very warm and encouraging. My interview felt more like a casual conversation than an interview, which surprised me. No need to be nervous! There was a large spectrum of attire. I wore a suit and there were many other candidates in suits, but there were just as many candidates in suit separates and business casual. Wear what you feel good in! Best of luck!

I think there were about 60 people yesterday. The interview was very informal for me, just a few questions. The attire people wore really did run the entire gamut from, pants suits to colorful dresses to everything in between. If you have any specific questions just shoot.

I will say a few people seemed a bit UNDERdressed today. But same scene - lots of suits, some colorful dresses. I was surprised by a few people in kinda rough-looking cardigans.

I second what people are saying about the interviews, very relaxed. I'm not feeling especially confident, though 😕. Lots of very qualified people. They do a great job of talking up the school. Still my top choice despite my worry I was too uninteresting during my interview.

I am sure you did well, Snoozy! Thanks for the run down. :)
