I've never posted here before but I am going to be applying to Yale School of Nursing this fall for a 2015 start in the GEPN program, CNM/WHNP cohort. Wondering if there are others out there preparing to do the same? I'm heading down to their info session next week.
Although I'd heard that Yale interviews tend more toward a conversation than a formal interview, my interview for the Midwifery specialty felt much more conversational that I anticipated. My interviewer hardly asked me any questions and did not reference my essay, resume, or other application material. That said, the conversation was fluid and engaging, and the interview lasted for nearly an hour. Did anyone else have a similar experience? I'm not sure whether or not to feel confident!
Yep, she hardly asked me any questions, surprisingly.

That's how my psych interview went. I asked about the MSN vs DNP thing and she spoke in depth about her feelings on it and why Yale isn't doing a GEPN DNP. It was super informative but I also worried I didn't really get to sell myself.

Yeah mine was quite informal too - it was nice actually because I was feeling pretty nervous going in. Now the epic wait continues...
Oh and I keep meaning to post that I asked about the shortened curriculum and it's not actually shortened. You just would not get your second summer off. The program would go straight through was what I was told.
Are you referring to the transition between the GEPN year and the Master's specialty? There's not supposed to be a break, unless you choose to take time off.
They aren't going to be shortening the curriculum in regards to the number of years it would take to complete the program. They said there was too much disagreement and that it would be tabled until a later time.
Obviously I have no idea about what talks are going on behind closed doors. I only know that I was told they are considering going straight through both summers. It made sense to me that they would do that as students are living off student loans during that summer and they are also having to do skills reviews when they come back from break. Like I said, I have no real idea what is going on. I am only relaying what I was told on interview day by faculty because it has been a topic of discussion here.
