Hello everyone! This thread is for folks applying to Yale's GEPN program for the fall 2023 start.
Feel free to introduce yourself, ask questions and offer guidance and support to other candidates. Please be respectful and kind and remember that this is a long, exhausting, expensive, stressful journey for lots of people. Let's do our best to uplift and help each other. Good luck!
Hello everyone! I am a PMHNP candidate, and I have been invited to an interview. I am both excited and nervous - I guess I did not see many posts of my track in this thread. I would love to see them and connect with you guys. Please send messages to me if you would also like to connect! We can share info & cheer each other up! :)))))

Hi,
I am a PMHNP candidate as well! Is anyone else finding it a bit frustrating that there are no direct statistics about admissions? Specifically cohort size within specialities, or at least a rough ratio of interviewers to seats. Most schools have this info readily available but I can’t seem to find it for Yale’s GEPN program.
Hello all and happy new year!
Admissions figures shift from year to year based on how many applicants there are overall and how many people apply to each specialty, in addition to how many seats they have available for each specialty (classroom space plus clinical placements) and any deferrals they have from prior admission cycles. I've heard/read that YSN typically gets 500-600 applicants for GEPN and they admit enough applicants to end up with a class of 105-115. Certain specialties have more seats than others. I believe the CNM/WHNP crew is about 20, with a handful of those seats WHNP-only or possibly CNM-only. I think FNP is similar in size, and I'm pretty sure the other specializations are somewhat smaller. Applicants in past years have heard feedback that YSN interviews 2-3 people for each available seat (in other words, if you have an interview, you have a ~35-50% chance of being offered admission). Please note that I am NOT a YSN official, and this is simply the information I've gathered from attending info sessions, reading posts by prior applicants, etc.
How is interview prep going for everyone? My interview is in a few days and I am so excited! My list of questions is absurdly long--I could spend eight hours asking questions and not be done! I was just daydreaming about how amazing it would be if the interview process involved shadowing a Yale faculty member for a day so that they could ask us questions, we could ask them questions and they could see us interact with patients/families/other healthcare professionals. I know it's beyond unrealistic, but it would be such a great way to comprehensively assess each applicant and for each applicant to get deeper exposure to the program and faculty.
Wishing everyone luck with interviews over the next couple of weeks! It'll be fun to hear about everyone's experiences post-interview.
Hi @mmCAglad to know your interview prep progress, and also, Happy New Year! What date is your interview scheduled for? Mine is 13th, because I am just too nervous to schedule an earlier date. I also had a long list of interview questions, collected from past threads. (Though I remember most students who shared their interview experience reported that the interviewer adhered to 20-30min length. Also, someone got 7-8 questions, but another was only asked two questions. If I remember it correctly, someone even said that she was interviewed for over an hour? So, that being said, I will still try to prepare for all my questions haha...better be more prepared than not!

Hey! I’m also going for FNP. I am not sure about the cohort size, but I think decisions should be around Feb.1, if I remember correctly !
