Yale GEPN 2023

Published

Hello everyone! This thread is for folks applying to Yale's GEPN program for the fall 2023 start.

Feel free to introduce yourself, ask questions and offer guidance and support to other candidates. Please be respectful and kind and remember that this is a long, exhausting, expensive, stressful journey for lots of people. Let's do our best to uplift and help each other. Good luck!

Specializes in FNP.

Hi everyone!

I have been watching this thread since the beginning of the application process and decided to join as we all prepare for interviews! I'm interviewing for the FNP speciality on Tuesday (I can't believe it!).

I'm sure everyone is in a similar boat as me- being simultaneously excited and also extremely anxious!

I look forward to discussing our post-interview thoughts/feelings as we await decisions.

Best of luck to all and happy new year! ?

Happy 2023 everyone, I hope that interview preparations are going well.

I also have an interview for FNP, but on the 4th-- regardless, it is quite close and I have been doing my best to prepare for it.

Remember to be true to yourself and don't overthink, let the interviewers get to know who you really are as a person! I wish everyone good results and hope that everyone has had a restful weekend.

Happy New Year everyone!!

I wish you all the best in 2023, including with these upcoming interviews! I have my interview for the FNP program tomorrow at 4:30pm, and I’m so excited! To echo what so many of you have said, everyone here is going to do so well and I hope you take the time to relax and enjoy learning more about the program while sharing your wonderful selves with the interviewers.

I do have one question I was wondering about, and I’ll reach out to Wesley and Zachary tomorrow in case, but does anyone here know if we have to complete FAFSA prior to any particular date for Yale? I believe it’s 1/8 from my notes, but wasn’t sure if there was anything else I was missing.

Thanks for all your input and good luck!!

Good luck to everyone! I have my interview on Wednesday and I am so nervous and ready to get it done LOL. In reading some of your comments, I am feeling underprepared for the amount of questions I have. I only have about 4-5 and I don't find them to be particularly unique - any advice?

You can always ask follow up questions when you're there and the conversation is actually moving. I think 4-5 sounds pretty reasonable if they are not answered already on the website.

Hellos everyone, happy new year!

Good luck to everyone! I am having my interview this week as well, I am so nervous!
For those who already have their interview, how did it go? Any technical questions?

Also curious about this. What specialty are you interviewing for?

Hi everyone! I hope interviews went well and prep is going well for those still waiting for theirs. I was wondering if any of you all know who we will be interviewing with. Past forums talked about researching their interviewer, but just want to make sure that I'm not missing anything while I prep!

Wish you all the best! So happy for the application season to be done!

Does anyone have tips on how to prepare for this interview/what they did?? My interview is in a few days and I am so overwhelmed and IDK where to start!! Thank you in advance ?

My interview confirmation did not disclose who the interviewer will be.

My interview is this Thursday for CNM/WHNP!

I asked about the interviewer and ZM in admissions said they now do not share the interviewer name prior because the faculty are practicing clinicians, their schedules change and your assigned interviewer may need to be changed. They don't want us joining the call thinking it's one faculty member only to be surprised to meet a different person. Makes sense!

As for interview prep, I'd suggest re-reading your essays and short answers, refreshing your memory of the items on your resume, reading the Yale GEPN website + website for your specialization and reading faculty bios to get a sense of who you might be meeting. Most importantly, though, I would focus on a little self care, look into your heart, think about your goals and dreams and just be ready to share a bit about who you are and what motivates you! I think these interviews are primarily aimed at getting a sense of your individual identity and what you would bring to your cohort. Based on prior folks' experiences, I would be extremely surprised if anyone gets technical questions about physiology or the like. I would, however, be prepared to answer specific questions about your work/clinical/volunteer/research experience. Hope that helps!
