Published

Hello everyone! This thread is for folks applying to Yale's GEPN program for the fall 2023 start.

Feel free to introduce yourself, ask questions and offer guidance and support to other candidates. Please be respectful and kind and remember that this is a long, exhausting, expensive, stressful journey for lots of people. Let's do our best to uplift and help each other. Good luck!

Hi!! any chance you'd happen to know if Yale accepts pre-reqs's through Portage Learning? I've tried emailing but have not gotten any response.

I'm not sure. I think you'll have to get a definitive answer from admissions. I'm hoping they're going to schedule information sessions soon, so that would be a good place to ask if they haven't responded to your email before then.

Hi there!

I just wanted to see if anyone has gotten an answer regarding Portage? I tried emailing as well and never received a response either. I also just tried calling the YSN number and nobody answered. Unfortunately, I was unable to leave a voicemail as well. I’ve been looking at Portage as it is my best option while I move and it is accredited as a department of Geneva College so it should be alright. Of course, I’d like to know for sure from the program before taking those classes.

Yes! Somebody asked specifically about Portage during a recent webinar and the admissions officer said Portage courses are fine.

Oh amazing! Thank you SO much! What a quick response too! Best of luck! Are you taking any Portage courses now?

Yes, speedy because I happen to be working on my Yale application right now! No, I have not taken anything from Portage. I took all my prerequisites through UC Berkeley Extension and Johns Hopkins SON.

Oh exciting! Haha I am in the car back to Boston from a family event this weekend so trying to be as proactive as possible. Are you applying elsewhere? And do you know if you want to specialize in anything in particular? I was looking at the JHU prerequisites too as my friend who is at Yale right now enjoyed those. I just could afford them this Summer (I’m moving and haven’t started my new job yet), so I was nervous I would have to wait another year if Portage wouldn’t be acceptable. So I’m so excited they are and you’ve made my day!!

Oh good! Hope your drive and move go smoothly!

I'm applying to a few others schools (UCSF, Penn, Columbia, probably) that have midwifery/women's health NP programs.

What specialization are you applying to? Any other schools?

That's so awesome! My sister had a great experience with a midwife in Boston this past year, and I have so much respect for them!

I am looking at FNP programs in the hopes of working with families and chronic care conditions in the future! So Yale, MGH, Penn, and likely a few others! My boyfriend is an RN working in endoscopy right now who is also interested in going back to pursue likely FNP as well. We are trying to find programs that work well for both of us!

Specializes in Hopeful future nurse.

Hi Everyone!

Happy this board was created. Wishing everyone the best of luck with their application!

What speciality are you applying for?

I'm applying for PMHNP!
