Hello everyone! This thread is for folks applying to Yale's GEPN program for the fall 2023 start.
Feel free to introduce yourself, ask questions and offer guidance and support to other candidates. Please be respectful and kind and remember that this is a long, exhausting, expensive, stressful journey for lots of people. Let's do our best to uplift and help each other. Good luck!

Maybe it was just me though. good luck to everyone!!
Congratulation on getting it done! I am sure you were well-prepared, and everyone gets nervous during the interview! I personally feel like business-style interview will actually make me feel less nervous than conversational type:)
Hey everyone!
Happy to say that I believe my interview went well. I made a few jokes here and there to lighten the mood as well, and it seemed to have worked, phew! My interviewer was incredibly nice, there were some questions that I wasn’t expecting so it did require me to think on the spot, but overall I found that I enjoyed my interview! : )

I think the questions may depend on who you get as an interviewer for sure. Mine also asked questions such as Why FNP, Why Yale Nursing, etc., I think the one thing I was just a bit thrown off about was talking about my strengths as it just so happened to be one of those things I didn’t prepare for?? I was able to still come up with a decent answer I think haha, I think as long as you were being true to yourself and know what you really want to do, there is no need to be nervous! It seemed that my interviewer had also read over my application and essays, etc., before my interview, because he mentioned it multiple times during the interview as well.

Congrats!! Wanted to add that my interviewer also had clearly read my application because she mentioned some specifics and asked about my experience in X role. It made me feel more comfortable tho ?
I just had my interview! I was super excited-nervous (and a little sweaty). I would describe it as an energetic conversation between two like-minded, passionate people who believe in midwifery and sexual/reproductive healthcare! My interviewer had definitely read my application thoroughly and she asked a number of questions about my experiences/identity/goals. She specifically mentioned that they try to ask all applicants a number of the same questions to ensure that there is equity in the process. For ethical reasons, I won't say exactly what those questions are, but they're all in line with the application questions--really no surprises! Know yourself, know your motivations, know nursing and your specialty, understand "better health for all people" and share yourself!
My interview ran long by about six minutes. I had so many questions that I did not have time to ask. Uff. They're really tight on time, and they're having a little trouble with the virtual meeting links. Keep your phone nearby and on prior to the interview! My interviewer called me ten minutes prior to confirm my email address, saying she needed to send me a new link. She emailed a zoom link directly to me, because the link set up within my YSN application portal was not going to be viable. It sounds like this is a widespread problem, so be ready for it.
Good luck everyone! Let us know how your interview goes!
