Yale GEPN Applicants 2011

It didn't look like there was a thread for 2011 Yale GEPN applicants. Since the application recently opened, I thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone else is starting to work on their application.

Just got up and refreshed my email, so far nothing for me yet. =[ This wait is ridiculous! I haven't refreshed my email this much EVER.

Right there with you! I sit at a desk in front of a computer all day for my job and that's turning out to be a curse now haha. I can't concentrate on anything else and keep refreshing my email and this forum practically every 10 minutes. Thank goodness my boss is so understanding!

If anyone hears anything, please let us know!!!

I guess we are actually getting letters because I feel that we would have recieved emails already? Right?! ahhhh the suspense....

I wonder why they would switch back to mailing letters all of the sudden? Especially since it would be even harder to mail things with all the bad weather lately. =[ *sigh* We can only just keep hoping and waiting! :anpom:

There's no chance they would go back to only mailing letters. They're probably still wrapping up decisions and we'll hear back in the next few business days.

Eh...Sandra has said to multiple people, myself included that they plan on mailing letters out next week. It's really annoying and unfortunate but I'm pretty sure that's what they plan on doing.

Still, this is super nerve wracking.

I've seen that you live in San Diego? I do too! I also sit in front of a computer all day for my job. I'm so distracted by this waiting...Seems like we've applied to a ton of the same schools (I applied to OHSU, Yale, Columbia, JHU, and Penn).

Maybe we had the admissions committee meeting date wrong as well. There was no definitive answer as to whether they met on 2/23 or not. I feel like someone from the school has to be looking at this board, seeing our anticipation and worry...

maybe, but when i emailed sandra to ask this is what she replied:

the committee on admissions will make final decisions on the 23rd of february, letters will be mailed the beginning of the following week.

so in the meantime i'm just doing everything i can to not bite my nails off in anticipation!!! :)

Hi Pam -

Where in SD do you live? I live in Oceanside and work in Mira Mesa. I worked at UCSD/VA Hospital for 5 years until about 2 months ago. Small world...I have run into so many CA/San Diego folks on this forum! When I interviewed at Yale, the 1st person I ran into was from SD and worked on the 2nd floor of the VA in research just like me (for a different PI, but still uncanny)...weird! Did you go to UCSD?

We definitely did apply to many of the same schools - I applied to OHSU, Columbia, and obviously Yale, but not your other 2. I also applied to UCSF, Rochester, and Boston College. Were you accepted to Columbia? I was accepted there, Rochester (turned it down), and BC and am still waiting on Yale, OHSU, and UCSF. The wait is killing me. I feel like they've already made their decisions so just tell us already!
