Yale GEPN Applicants 2011

Published

It didn't look like there was a thread for 2011 Yale GEPN applicants. Since the application recently opened, I thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone else is starting to work on their application.

Anyone else out there?

i know columbia has their responses out, but i didn't apply there. i heard there was a delay in receiving them due to an injury with the resident iguana in the admissions office. either someone in their admissions dept has a great sense of humor, or there is one very beloved reptile on the upper west side.

lol I applied to Columbia, and yes apparently the admissions iguana knocked over the stack of applications the admissions committee was meeting to go over, so they got delayed a bit but did end up getting back to us a week ago. I've heard back from 2 other schools also, so it seems Yale is just one of the later ones. UCSF is definitely the very latest - they don't tell us until April...so it could be worse!

I have the sneaking suspicion that the next week is going to go by soooooooooooo slowly :uhoh3: I feel like it's the holidays and I have one of those candy calendars or block statues where you count down the # of days to Christmas...like an antsy little kid!

Tanya - this is hilarious! I totally agree. I've gotten responses fro UVA, UT Austin and Johns Hopkins. I'm finding it hard to concentrate on anything else right now! Good luck to everyone.

i was secretly hoping that the 2/23 meeting date was a diversion and that we'd find out today... doesn't look that way - one more week to go then! Although I do take some solace in learning that UCSF sends out notices in April. I didn't apply there, but that would be a horrible wait. Esp, because their application deadline is two months earlier as well!

I completely agree with you Tanya -- this wait is ridiculous!! I'm barely able to even concentrate on my midterms because all I want to do is refresh my email all day long. Just a few more days!! There must be a way for us to keep our minds off of it haha.

its so funny how the UCSF application deadline was the earliest (it was due September 1... meaning EVERYTHING needed to be in by then) and you hear from them the latest.

I think this is annoying. I don't care how selective you are with your class. It shouldn't take you 8 months to put it together! (Can you tell I didn't get an interview...? Hah!)

i didn't even apply o ucsf since i couldn't get everything in by september 1.

The anticipation is already driving me mad, and they don't even meet until tomorrow! Anyone else having trouble focusing on anything else?

I definitely feel your pain! In the corner of my mind I'm hoping they'll meet early, but regardless I've just accepted the fact that I will be glued to my computer and mailbox until I hear something!

I was thinking/hoping they'd meet early too. After all, everyone had been expecting the interview notices on Friday, December 17 or even the next week, but those came earlier than expected so...but I really don't think they're meeting until tomorrow and that we'll receive emails beginning in the afternoon at the earliest and hopefully no later than by Friday. Just a few short days:lol2:

Here's to hoping they start sending out the emails right away! I get updates on my phone each time someone posts a message on this blog, so I will be anxious tomorrow each time it "dings"!
